Hello guys i have a 2004 model and did this mod, it works perfectly! you can now replace your radio with and aftermarket one without loosing climate status. But if you want to be able to cycle trhough trip computer settings and setting the clock you either have to put a 2006-2009 headunit , set the settings and without removing power from the vehicle just remove the headunit and put your own unit. I idid this mod in combination with eonon d5151z and works like a charm, i have access to trip computer and clock.

Did you have the climate display before doing the swap? I swapped my 05 LCD with an 07 when I installed my ga5151f. The display works fine except that the climate control area on the right is always blank. My car does not have automatic climate control, I think this might be why it's blank.

Hey, Kapazo, good job!

I've got a 2006-2009 LCD wired into my 2005 - a massive thanks to the OP for the diagrams - and with the stock radio it was displaying the temperature. I ordered a replacement radio thinking it would be a 2006 car's BR2B-66-AR0 (with an "Info" button) and the seller instead sent a BR2D-66-AR0 (with a "Set" button) - which gets the LCD displaying the clock and radio station, etc. - so the wiring job is successful, but no matter what button combos I use, I get no "DIS On" because the BR2D-66-AR0 has no trip computer capability. Both units are manufactured by Sanyo, and not Clarion. I've read around that only Clarion head units work, but I've also read the spec for the BR2B-66-AR0 and it says "w/trip computer" even though it's a Sanyo.

So I'm trying to source one either from the same seller or elsewhere but I'm still a bit weary that because some folks have said that only Clarion units work, that it will be a waste of time? Can you or anyone else please confirm that they've got this working with a Sanyo unit that has an "Info" and "Media" button, which would be from a 2006 or newer car like the BR2B-66-AR0? There are various model numbers but Sanyos have "Sanyo Automedia" written on the sticker on top of the unit (as below).

I'm just trying to alleviate my concerns and hopefully get the correct unit ASAP without going through many trial and error order and return processes.

Thank you for any help or advice you can give.

Just wanted to say thanks for the guide! Did this to my '05 2.0. Bought a 2008 LCD from a 1.6 diesel which set me back 50 bucks.

Only thing that wasn't really clear to me was which LCD I needed. A different site said I needed a 12 pin lcd, which happened to be wrong. Luckily you uploaded the pictures which helped me to find an lcd with the right connector.

The soldering of the 7 wires was easy, even without any soldering experience.

I wasn't sure whether I'd have the trip computer available, seeing as I only have an Eonon d5151 hooked up and no 06-09 radio. Luckily all information is available. It even shows remaining distance, which doesn't seem to happen to a lot of people.

For anyone wondering, my 2.0 runs 9.1L/100KM. :)

Thanks for the guide!
Going to make an attempt of this tomorrow, with a slight difference though - my 04 Mazda came with an aftermarket stereo and somewhat destroyed wiring:

so i'm going to attempt splicing this in:

to plug in an 06 LCD display and stereo:

I'm very much a novice at the automotive side of electronics so any advice would be handy, I have infact read this entire thread, just going to have to be careful I get all of the wires correct..
just for clarification, the only wires that change between 04 and 06 model radios is the LCD and LCD power, the rest are the same? It's just i'm seeing a few colour differences, ones where the diagrams in this thread don't match either my cars original (04) harness or the new (06) harness i'm going to be putting in.

hey dude can you rotate (stock radio SET button) trip computer with d5151?
thanks

so a I did infact succeed in installing the headunit a while back but a bunch of stuff came up and I forgot to post back, anyhoo, managed to get all the wires hooked up fine and the display works perfectly with all the available options:

I have noticed however sound could probably be a bit louder, also - does this signify that I infact have a bose unit here(shows on the display when powering on)?

Yes, you have the Bose radio. The reason the sound is so soft is because the Bose radio is a "dead head". That is, there is no internal amplification! You're listening to your radio drive speakers with the equivalence of RCA jacks! You really need to get an aftermarket amp so that it works correctly. When wiring in the amp, get a PAC AOEM-MAZ2 t-harness, but don't use the blue box that comes with it. Just solder in a pair of RCA females to where the blue box interfaces, then run those to your new amp.

Used the info in this post today to have the climate control info displayed after replacing factory radio for a JVC single din unit. I have a 2004 Jap import Mazda 3 and used an 06 lcd display. Thanks for all the great info.

Hello guys!
Big thanks to seanlin08 for the great tutorial, I got my LCD work again. I have a 2004 Mazda 3 sedan, had the stock 2004 radio with info key and factory enabled trip computer. I swapped the head unit to Eonon GA8151, and since then the stock LCD was not working (as we all know). I had doubts if it will work properly, but purchased a 2007 LCD from a scrapyard, soldered and installed it based on seanlin08s tutorial, and it's working great. I have all the functions working, just like before. I have climate control, clock and all 4 modes of the trip computer. It even shows radio frequency, Bluetooth mode, DVD play time (this one is buggy, only loops from 0-9 sec, I think it's a head unit issue) etc. I can cycle through the trip computer and even set the clock by the steering wheel buttons. I didn't install 2007 radio for this, left the Eonon unit installed, just swapped the LCD, and everything works fine. FYI I have the red SS-02 CAN bus adapter. You can check by long pressing MODE button on the steering wheel, if you hear beep sound, you have the right CAN bus adapter. I hope this helps for others, who have doubts, like I had :wink2:

You did this on a 2004 lcd unit?
