Yes, you have the Bose radio. The reason the sound is so soft is because the Bose radio is a "dead head". That is, there is no internal amplification! You're listening to your radio drive speakers with the equivalence of RCA jacks! You really need to get an aftermarket amp so that it works correctly. When wiring in the amp, get a PAC AOEM-MAZ2 t-harness, but don't use the blue box that comes with it. Just solder in a pair of RCA females to where the blue box interfaces, then run those to your new amp.

You did this on a 2004 lcd unit?

Yes. I had an 04, and it worked perfectly.
