Awesome. I really need this car back on the road for work but my local dealers keep telling me they can't or won't flash a used ecm. Have any further input on this? I'd greatly appreciate it!

 

I still fail to see what has to be "programmed" on it.

It's just a fuse and wire harness box...

 

Um, PCM/ECU generally refers to the engine management computer. You know, the thing under the hood next to the battery that has to have the VIN and key transponder chips programed into it or the engine won't start.

 

... no wonder this has always been confusing for me.

I always thought PCM was the same as the BCM; P meaning passenger to identify location.
I'm an idiot....

 

The P in PCM typically stands for powertrain.

 

Oh, I'm sure they can flash a used one, I know they have for members who have converted their car's from an automatic to a manual transmission. Either policies or incompetence prevent them from doing it. I work at an independent shop and even we can flash ECUs.

 

I've been calling around town but everyone thinks I'm crazy! I have some hope now, thank you.
