I'm trying to diagnose what's causing my strange trembling/ shuddering while idling, and i feel it could possibly be a bad mount.

Does this look like a normal amount of engine movement to you guys?

That looks totally normal to me, I think mine moves more than that and I have a SU rear mount.

Thats what I was thinking. But the shuttering/ vibes at idle is what made me think bad mount.

Could be that he has rocks in his RMM like I did, and a few others.

Ah thanks guys. yeah i'm gonna check it out tomorrow after work. The vibes are getting pretty annoying. the whole body of the car shakes, but not violently. Like, i can see the maps in my doors move. If it's something as simple as rocks, awesome. If it's the bad mount, awesome too because im still under the powertrain warranty and can get it replaced for free. If not, i guess I'm gonna go into mazda and have them figure it out. It's definitely not normal. I cleaned out what i could of my throttle body hoping it would fix it, but it didn't.

Possible clue-

If i watch the engine, it seems to "jump" every time i feel the vibes, like... it moves more than it does when it's not vibing. Almost like something's off balance. I could totally see how a bad mount could make this happen, not holding the engine in place.

Also question- For the tutorial, do i have to take off the splash guard?

Well I put it up on ramps at a friend's house, looked at it and it looked alright I guess. When I get a chance and the weather is better, I'll remove it and inspect it. Would I be able to tell if it was shot just from looking at it still attached to the body?

I'm gonna bring it in to mazda asap, but is there anything else I can check? Thanks guys!

ok so if your mounts are good, how is the engine? how many miles are on your car?
have you ever done a tune up or pulled a plug to inspect its condition?
is your check engine light on?
do you have a after market intake? My former Fujita made my car jun rougher than with the stock air box.

One other thing, were you revving the motor in gear with your foot on the brake in the video? If so the engine rocking back and forth like that would be considered normal

As far as i know, the passenger side and the bottom mount are good, not sure about the one under the batt box.

the car is completely stock (minus the throttle body ground), has 54k miles on it, and hasn't had a tune-up. No Check engine lights.

Yeah, i had my e-brake up and was giving it a little gas. I figured it was normal, but in the end im trying to diagnose this vibrating at idle, more of bumping at idle than vibrating. I've cleaned the throttle body as best i can to no prevail.

Brought my car in today and had mazda check it out. After running a computer history, they found that the car had been misfiring recently every once in a while, which would make sense. Since I bought the car used, I have no clue when or if it ever had a tune up, which is what the dealer reccomended. Guess I'm gonna get it done soon haha. Also, they lubed up my clutch. How much do tune ups generally run?
