I was wondering if anybody in california got a fix it ticket for having window tint on the front sides? I wanted to tint my mazda 3 with 35% tint but I know the law in california says it has to be 70% or higher. I just want to know the chance of getting caught. Please let me know your percent of tint too.

I have not got caught thank God, however the law against front window tint is fairly lax. Unless your obviously looking suspicious or doing something stupid in front of a cop, they usually wont pull you over just for tint. The fix it ticket is usually tacked on to a red light or speeding ticket...

if you really want it...just roll your front window down... I got pulled over for 35% tint all the way around in my tib... it was about $100 fine... 8) good luck

In California, if you get pulled over for tint on the front windows it's merely a fix it ticket (and you must remove your tint to get it signed off). I have tint on my front two windows (on all my windows except the windshield). I have 35% on the front two and 5% on the rears. I went with a tint light enough on the front so you can still see me, but it gives me some protection from the sun.

Ok thanks everyone for their feedback. I'm gonna do 35% all around then. I hope it looks good!

That is not quite true anymore. The officer who pulls you over can make it a fix-it-ticket or a fine, depending on your attitude. This changed about a year ago.
