hi..

i thought this post may be useful to some people struggling to change their D2S bulbs.

I recommend removing the bumper and headlights to replace the bulbs. it would make it much easier both or you and your fingers :p

Removal of bumper guide can be found here:

to start off with... here's how ur HID headlight should be like:

twist the cover anti-clockwise to open it to gain access to the bulb:

this should open access to the bulb:

Then you should be able to twist the igniter socket with you fingers. turn anti clockwise:

Then the bulb's base becomes exposed:

With your thumb, push the clip forward while moving them to the side:

Once both clips have been pushed out, pull it forward to let the bulb loose:

Then simply pull the bulb out:

And simple install in reverse order with the new bulb. its as easy as that...

Perfect timing for this thread as I was just planning on ordering new bulbs for my headlights. I didn't realize the bumper would have to be removed just to change the bulbs. What a PITA.

Well, you don't have to remember the bumper or the headlight assembly to replace the bulbs, but it is recommended. I took mine out and put them back in without removing the assembly, but I also had about 15 gashes all over my fingers and hands from trying to shove them down in there. I'm definitely taking it off once I upgrade the bulbs. I hated having sore and cut up hands for a week.

Awesome write up. I hope mine dont go out till i can afford new lights, they are so foggy, i have to use headlight polish on them daily. i was looking at some new lights that look stock on ebay, but i dont know if the HID housings are the same as halogen housings dut to the fact the HID housing has that twist cap.
