So today, I came out to my car that had been in the parking lot for about 2 hours or so, and the stupid ******** in Texas that absolutely have to back their trucks into their spaces had backed their ridiculously high lifted trucks into my hatch. Now it wont open, the release handle feels like theres nothing connected to it. I pull it, and absolutely nothing happens. It feels like its locked, but every other door is unlocked.

If it's damaged leave it as is and report it to your insurance. Aside from that just take what you need from over the seat :O

Actually just did that today. I'm taking it in this weekend so hopefully insurance won't make me pay a unreasonable ammount

Insurance will make you pay your deductible. Being as you got backed into I'm guessing the repair will be over that amount.. Did you report it? If you have full coverage you wont have to pay a dime if it's claimed to be the other persons fault. Their insurance will pay (that is if they have insurance)

So took it to the shop, and its gonna be $1100 dollars, and my deductible is $1000. awesome.

#13 ·
uhh why is your deductable 1k? have you had any other insurance claims?

#14 ·
no other claims, just have 4 cars on the policy

Why is your insurance taking care of this. Have the ******** insurance take care of it.
Good question. I'm guessing the he either didn't report it, or was on private property. I wouldn't pay for that shit outta my pocket! Some dude ran into you while you were parked, why are you paying for it?

I'm assuming it was a hit and run and/or there were no witnesses who saw the actual impact.

that's exactly it. it was in a parking lot and they were complete D-bags and didn't leave a note or anything

So I am finally back from college, which means I am back with all my dads tools. So after reading some stuff online about how to open a locked trunk, i just decided to go and attempt to open it. I started off by removing my sub, then popping off the little circlular thing on the back plastic trim piece on the inside of the hatch. After examining what had happened inside, I some how managed to piece the things back together and open my hatch. Once opened, I removed all the black trim and saw what had happened. My entire locking mechanism had shattered into about 5-6 pieces, meaning there was no way in hell to fix it. So down to the dealership with a price quote from (http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=214264) and got my discounted locking mechanism. 112 dollars down the drain. booooo. But now i finally have a working trunk.
