So i washed and waxed my car today and then made the drive back to school in Orlando. Went to publix and when i got back i noticed that there was a shit load of condensation in my left tail light :censored: has this happened to anyone else and if so what did you do to fix it. i can't think of any way for water to enter the housing and i haven't touched the tail light other then when i had to remove it when removing my rear bumper but even then i didn't break any seals or anything...at least i hope not.

my fogs did the same thing, thake the light off, pull the blubs, and use a blowdryer to get all the water out and use a little bit of silicone to seal it back up, worked fine with my fog light

k thanks guys i'll give the hair dryer trick a try...can the bulbs twist out like the fogs because there is quick disconnects on the back of them and i just had to disconnect those in order to remove the tail light

i have this problem with both of my tail lights. someone told me that if you drill a small hole into the light so that the condensation can escape it works. Have you guys every heard of that before?

otherwise, i figure hey i live in miami and the humidity here sucks. my tail lights are stock from 3 years ago maybe its time i just upgraded to the 07-08 models.

If you drill a hole in them then you would just let more water into them which is what causes the condensation. After I wash my car I have to my left tail light out, remove the bulbs, and then empty out the water that gets inside. It's only like a tbsp or two so it's not that big of a deal but it's still annoying. If I get a new pair of tail lights ever I'm going to try baking these open and then resealing them.

check that rubber thing thats between the taillight and the body of the car. It surrounds the bulbs so im guessing it keeps water out? if problem continues to occur just take bulb out when it happens and let it sit in the sun should evaporate on its own
I've check that rubber piece on more than a few occasions and nothing appears to be wrong with it. I use a hairdryer to get everything dried out but it's annoying to have to do this every time I wash my car. The tail lights shouldn't leak like this and the fact that Mazda says it's normal is bullshit and is probably just a cheap fix to the problem on their end.

if you drill the hole in the correct spot water wont be able to get inside.

the headlights have vents in them but they have little U shaped rubber pieces on them disallowing water to get inside. it shouldn't be hard to rig something up for the tails.

We still shouldn't have to do something like that. Water should never be able to get into the headlights in the first place. If someone does come up w/ a solution that works then I would def. be interested.

The rear tailights aren't sealed (at least not on the Canadian model). Both of mine already has a small vent hole drilled in by the manufacturer to let moisture out. I haven't noticed any condensation.

I would think its just your tails are old and you need to buy new ones maybe a crack somewhere? Take your tails and dip them in water but don't allow water to get in the holes where your bulbs are and see if there are any leaks that way?
That's a good idea. Next time I have them out I'll try that.

yeah you shouldnt have to but theres really not a whole lot of solutions. the first thing i would try is hitting them with a blow dryer then letting them sit inside your house for a night. that way they actually dry out completely. then i'd run some clear sealer all around the outer edges (facing in). i've used this method before on different things, there is probably a reeeeally small opening somewhere in that factory seal. the plastic on our tail lights is pretty thick so theres only a couple likely entry points (bulbs and outer edge). i think any other spot like a crack would be pretty obvious to the naked eye.
