Hi,

New to the forum and new to the M3 world. I'm looking to purchase a used M3 HB, probably a manual, for under $10,000. So far, it looks like the cars in my price range are all at 90,000 miles or more. What kind of issues should i look for at this mileage? What kind of preventative maintenance should the owner(s) have done by 90,000 miles? Should i spring for the extra cash and buy a lower-mileage car?

Thanks in advance,

PM

you can buy a new one for a couple more dollars.... with little to no problems...

There aren't any major maintenance items out there like a timing belt (these cars have timing chains). So it's the usual suspects for maintenance - oil changes, maybe a coolant flush, brakes etc. If the car feels worn out then I would move on. The passenger side motor mount is notorious for failure.

In my opinion, these cars hold up to mileage very well. I bought my car at 130,000 miles over a Focus with 50,000 (with 2.3L) because the Mazda felt much better despite the higher miles.

Thanks Broncos. Timing belt was my main concern as I used to have a Honda and timing belts on those could become issues if not replaced on time. I will also make sure to ask about the motor mount when i get the car inspected.
