If you want to see if your seals are failing:

Warm car up for a minute or two.
Drive around for upto 30 minutes. Make sure car it WARM.
Let car idle once driven.
May take up to 30+ minutes to show any sign of smoke.

 

My car has a substantial amount of yummy blackness on the bumper which i believe has either burned or stained the clear coat... no worries though makes my car look bad ass lol... jk... but not really

 

it just runs pig rich from the factory, black is fine. blue and white smoke are signs of turbo failure.

ok the reason its so sooty is because its a direct injection car. i cant tell you why, but thats just how they are, the exhaust tends to be sooty and have particulate matter. I run pretty damn lean at WOT (12.5 AFR) and the back of my car is always covered in soot too
