So i went out and installed the GA6163F on my car just now. I spliced the main harness audio outputs over to the AUX outputs to get the low power audio signals over to my BOSE audio to prevent damage. I might as well add my thoughts about this unit to this thread.

Despite what the marketing on the official site says, it does not perfectly integrate the steering wheel controls. Volume control works, Seek is reversed... The phone pickup/hangup buttons does nothing, and the voice command button does nothing. I tried the key learner app and it does nothing to correct these issues; it simply does not detect the phone buttons being pressed. I didn't connect the SW1 and SW2 wires as I have no idea what i'm supposed to connect them to. This issue is very disappointing as i now have buttons on my steering wheel that doesn't do anything.
Edit: re-read the thread and realized i need to do a hack to tap into the bluetooth module to get those buttons working.

Audio quality is not as good as the stock unit. Even with "Loud" on it's not as punchy as the stock unit and if I use the EQ to increase the treble there's distortion on the high end.

Screen has 1 bright green dead pixel.

the spot where they stuck the GPS unit on the install video is not available on a BOSE equipped Mazda 3; that's where the subwoofer is. but i felt my way further in and found a different spot for it to the left and got good GPS signal.

the stock UI leaves much to be desired.

I don't know much about the keys since I have the basic package that didn't come with the Bluetooth answering and stuff, but I know of you root the device and install the Xposed framework, I believe you can download one called MTC keys or something like that and you might be able to program the keys there.

Stock ui can be changed to a different launcher. I use smart launcher, some people like nova launcher. Adds more useful features such as an app drawer

Hi ghostling, no worry we will try our best to help you.
For the bose system, our GA6163F is compatible with it. Only few customers may think the bose sound is very loud, so they spliced the main harness audio outputs over to the AUX outputs. Actually if you think the bose sound is normal, you don't have to do such modification.

If you think the steering wheel buttons are reversed, you can enter factory settings of the unit and

The unit can't support bluetooth calling and voice control for steering wheel controls. It's designed in this way, hope you understand. And SW1, and SW2 is for SWC connection too if your car doesn't have the can bus. But most of you guys' vehicles should come with can bus, so you can just ignore these SW1, SW2 wires.

And different head units may have different performance on treble and bass.

About the bright green dead pixel, please kindly tell us your Email, order No. or serial No. of the unit, we will help you further, thanks.

so you're saying even if i follow the instructions by Gizmoman over on the GA5163F thread post#174 i can't get the call buttons to work? why would it work for the GA5163F but not the GA6163F?

Eonon, I am seriously fed up of your lies now.

the GA5163F and GA6163F BOTH suffer from not being compatible with the BOSE audio system.

The fact you state that they do is a downright lie.

You keep telling people that it works fine yet EVERY unit i have used (had 2 GA5163F and 3x GA6163F) all had the same problem.

A Humming present through speakers, no matter the volume.

YES changing the AMP to 25% reduces the CRAZY volume, BUT the humming stays.

This is caused by the fact you are sending an Amplified signal to a BOSE amplifier, this causes the Humming. Its well known that sending an amplified signal to an amplifier is WRONG and can DAMAGE hardware.
THE ONLY solution is to splice into the supplied wiring harness and use the RCA outputs on the back of your units which means the loss of BASS on BOSE systems (on GA6163F). <---THIS MAKES IT NOT COMPATIBLE!
You CANNOT then simply plug in a Sub as its powered by the BOSE amp.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You then tell people that they cannot use the Steering wheel buttons for phone Pick up and Hang up. AGAIN ITS A LIE!
You need to simply splice the SW1 into the BT module under the glovebox.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You installed new software onto the new version GA6163F to fix the screen issues. - A LIE!
You added a new contract button which makes text look stupid and had a new LCD put into newer units.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DAB+ Radio supported with YOUR box - BROKEN
This doesn't work - Supplied DAB+ aerial WILL NOT WORK IN MAZDA 3's due to heated windscreen.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I sent my last one back for a refund and have ordered a different branded unit which takes the cars loom as input at the back. Hopefully will be a much better unit.

Eonon, you need to stop being dishonest with customers.

Hi MiR, thanks for your purchase!
1. Yes if you buy the new batch of unit, it comes with new brighter screen.
2. For your buzzing issue, you can try as follows: Enter unit Settings --- Factory settings -- input password 126 --- Other --- AMP Volume---25% --- click APPLY.
3. Please use No. 5 AUX adapter cable of accessories in this picture: , to connect to our unit. Please check if you have wired correctly. If so, please enter AV in mode to view.
4. We will send you a software update by PM then, please have a try, thanks!

nks.
Again more lies. This is known not work. Just reduces the overall volume.

Hey eonon i was woundering are u guys going to make a new updated version of this radio better sound and screen quality not hating i just dont want to buy somthing ill regret

Eonon doesn't make the units. They're just resellers of a company called Klyde. You'd have to ask them.

Klyde makes the units and gives/sells them to resellers to sell such as Eonon and Pumpkin.

No matter what they keep telling you that "we make the units" they clearly don't, it's well known over on the forum made for these heads, and even messaging Klyde themselves they will confirm this, and even in the system spec you will the prefix "KLD" which is a Klyde prefix.

They don't make these units, and they have horrible support at that. Still haven't replied to email for an exchange and it's been well over a week. I'm honestly throwing it away because it's useless, past the 60 day warranty, and I'm so fed up with them I don't want to deal with the hassle.

Looking around for another company. Klyde themselves are much more helpful, and I've been emailing them for support on my Eonon unit and they actually been helping me as best they can, should've bought directly from them because they could've given me a better deal and with a bright screen

@Jestin25, our GA6163F sold now are already upgraded with brighter screen before, and from today on, our head units are even with Btooth music info display feature, which is not supported for previous unit. The sound is usually very good. Thanks!
@Diagro, sorry about hearing your issues. Eonon is an honest company which have 14 year history of making head units. In most of the cases, our unit is compatible with bose system, not sure about your issue, but please tell us your Email, order No. or serial No. of the unit, we will try our best to help you with this sound issue and other issues. No worry we have 60-day money back and free return guarantee if you didn't buy from the reseller.

About the steering wheel controls, we have revised our ad to be more accurately. Thanks.
@davidgotmilk, sorry to hear that. You have bought from our reseller and they have their own warranty policy. We have asked them to take good care of you. Not sure about what happens, but please kindly PM me your Email and phone No., we will ask them to help you in first priority. Thanks a lot!

Yes I bought from a reseller but I was already told by you guys to email Eonon itself. Which I did. Over 2 weeks ago. No reply. Twice.

Hey all,

I installed GA6163F over the weekend, and the unit and the dash display stay ON when I pull the key out of ignition. They don't switch OFF at all, even minutes later with the car locked. If I remove the CAN BUS DECODER, both the unit and the dash info display switch OFF as normal. Eonon support told me to "change power wire and canbus." Not sure what they mean by that - waiting for a reply. Everything is connected as per their installation video, and the CAN BUS DECODER is obviously at fault. Did anyone face this problem with a '12 i Touring (6-speaker non-BOSE) or any other model?

The included CAN BUS DECODER is KLD MZ-SS-02 20160909 SS-MZ023211158-0 v1.01

Hi davidgotmilk, we're not sure which your Email is, maybe it came to the junk box. I'll PM you for the Email to check carefully then, thanks!

i'm sick of the crap they tell me on email support. every time i mention a problem they say "our unit is designed in this way." i emailed them regarding a bright green dead pixel on my screen as per this thread and here's what they replied

"thanks for your pictures!
We have checked your picture, we are not sure which green line do you mean. But our unit UI is designed in this way. You can check the attached UI pictures. It's quite normal.
Or if you mean other green lines, please clearly point it out for us to check, thanks!"

apparently they don't know what a dead pixel is. i can't post pictures on the forum yet otherwise i would post it here.

about the steering wheel controls not working despite their marketing material they also said "our unit is designed in this way." now that we've bought it they're going to change their product description so say it doesn't support the phone functions. classic bait and switch.
i paid for a unit based on "steering wheel control functions of original car will be remained" but that's apparently a lie. i think those of us that bought on that premise should at least get a partial refund.

Hi ghostling, sorry for the misunderstanding before. But we totally understand what is dead pixel afterwards and provide you this advice in our 2nd Email: "Please kindly take off the protective film to see if there's still deal pixel. If so, please kindly take a clearer picture while the film is off, we will check it further."

Not sure if you have tried it, but we will still try our best to help you. About the steering wheel controls, yes we have revised the marketing material, thanks for your feedback. If you're really not satisfied with our unit, we have 60-day money back and free return guarantee. I'll Email you further and still try my best to help you, thanks.

Can you please PM me the link to this firmware ? I would like to see BT music info displayed, and am hoping a later firmware will fix:

1. Allow Waze to run - currently it crashes within 10 seconds
2. Allow HERE We Go Maps to download offline maps
3. Allow Google Music to store downloaded music onto ANYWHERE else other than the tiny Internal Storage
4. Allow Google Weather widget to run

Thanks

Hi FlamingHomer, the Google music download location is determined by the Google itself, we can't change it. For the others, we can provide you a software to have a try. I'll send it to you later by PM, thanks!

Reverse camera installation

Hello all, is there a reverse camera (A0119) installation video guide for the 2012 mazda 3, as I have no idea how to install it and I am waiting for the GA6163F with the camera to be shipped. Thanks in advance
