How good is the simota intake... excellent... or should I wait for a nice AEM intake to come out?

Don't know about the Simota, but AEM already makes an intake for the 3, as does Injen and K&N.

http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=25607.0 A little Simota vs Injen discussion. I love my Injen intake it works very well and I have had no issues with it at all. I would recommend the K&N and Injen intakes anyday.

+1

Being that I used to have the Simota and now have the Injen, I must say that the Injen is a MUCH better constructed intake.

I am looking for an SRI though due to the water contitions in this area... I have heard that having aan AEM CAI and a bypass valve is the same as having an SRI in performance (even though I doubt it because the air is still colder) it shouldn't drowned out the engine? right?

im pretty happy with my simota. I might get an Injen CAI next summer though. unless I can find a K&N replacement filter that bolts on with very little to no mods

Yeh... it is the umnitza one though... so I have to get the V3 upgrade from him (dang nabit)...

Why is that? It's the same intake, both are made by Simota. Umnitza just rebadged it as their own.

On another note, I'm loving my intake. It seemed to me to be of fairly high quality, although there were a few spots on the MAF tube that had questionable welds (still, better than any welding I could have done). They aren't -bad- welds, per se, just looks like someone got a little happy with the welder. I was also surpised to see they went back to threading the V3 MAF tube mounting flange, which required me to drill out the threads in order to get the best fit. Not a big deal, just a little surprising.

The intake makes the car sound -mean- 8)

It is because xenonexpert only has enough V3 parts for his customers... =) So i have to get one from umnitza or contact simota I guess. I needed a SRI because of the weather in my area... =) Cool stuff I found one for so cheap.

Ah, yeah, that'd be a good reason
