Hey there Sydney siders,

I know we've all had a chat to one another on one occasion or another.

But lets make it official... How many ppl here in Sydney own a Mazda3??

Please list Model, colour, type... (sp23, black mica, sedan).

Talk about happy day's, I didn't test drive it before trade in. This isn't an upgrade from the SP20, its phenomenally better in every aspect.

Will the new golf better this vehicle? Its going to have its work cutout.

Count me in the Sydney, SP23 members club.

atm, still aiming for the Maxx Sport. I won't be able to afford it for a few months yet, so I may as well wait till the price comes down with the fall in the import tax. In the meantime, I'll just keep drooling each time I spot a 3 on the road! :p

Spook, I saw something on TV about the drop in import tax and they had the marketing managers for Toyota, Mitsubishi and Mazda saying they'd probably pass on about 3%-5% discount.
Do you know how much the government is proposing? Is it 10%?

is this one of those fake electoral promises?? :?

on another note, as i picked up my car from the 1k service this pm, i mentioned that i hadn't seen many 3's on the road at all. he said that they handn't been selling that well... strange considering the figures we all read.

Maybe they're not selling well from that dealership?

I've seen a fair few around North Sydney and coming out of the city towards the north. In fact there is a white SP23 hatch in my building, Silver Maxx Sport parked on my street and a Silver Neo around the corner. I even saw an Maxx Sport winning blue hatch identicle to mine when I was going to Wollongong yesterday.

I didn't test drive the 3 as I wanted to be pleasantly surprised, knowing full well it was best in class by a country mile after scrutinising the reviews - :)

I knew it would be a substantial improvement on the SP20 and it is, I also have immense trust in Mazda's new zoom zoom approach.

I find that really funny seeing that most people had to wait for theirs to arrive, and if you were to want one now, you'd have to wait till April. LOL

The tax is set to fall from 15% to 10% from 1 Jan 2005 - this is not an election promise, but something that was planned a while ago. Naturally, there was quite a bit of resistance from the 4 local manufacturers. Malcolm Gough (head of Mazda Oz), as quoted in Wheels article in Feb issue, predicted that manufacturers will pass on savings of about 4.5% from around October. That will equate to about a $1k saving on a Neo. The article did also say that at the lower end of the market, the savings will probably translate to additional accessories rather than a cash discount.

But I'm getting OT here - not quite roll call stuff :) .

I also find that a difficult story to swallow. My dealer told me they had 7 on order and that one dealer in Brisbane, sold 16 in one Saturday Morning. Im yet to see an add on TV for the 3. The local dealer group is currently running Mazda adds, for the 2, 6, Bravo and Tribute only, I suspect they dont want more people waiting extra long times to get cars. He told me just the other day, an SP23 or Neo with ABS and Airbags or any other FACTORY REQD mods will be a June delivery. If we'd wanted our Maxx Sport with the raised wing, a Factory mod, as there arent others to swap boots with we'd be waiting till at least June.

in less than 24 hours, i will be picking up my brand new baby.

whats weird is im not counting my hours. the fact that i know im getting it tomorrow seems to be satisfying enuff.

im worried about my number plate. it better not embarass me.

and i pick the car up 5pm. it'll be a good time to test the 5speed in peak hour traffic, and up a couple hills (or is that a bad thing?? ie. break-in procedures? i jus dunnnnnno).
