Never seen it and can't imagine how they would be wired up. Not that I'm interested in doing this myself, I'd like to see how it's done so if you figure it out, post it up!

you would have to get some sort of temperature guage that would regulate electrical current to each color of led, either individually or simaltaneously.

You could wire some leads to the temp control knob...as a relay between the LEDs and the power wire. A bit complicated, whichever way you go.

 

This is a brilliant IDEA! I'm gonna design the Circuit in multi-sim and run some Simulations using the potentiometer already installed on the temp knob. I'll post a circuit diagram if I can get it to work.

 

You could also put a mini electronic thermostat without a relay to monitor temp and drive each time
the appropriate led.

 

Sounds like a cool idea. With some modification, I think this faucet light (http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/kitchen/8122/) might be an easy way to get that effect. You would just need to disassemble it, install some resistors to work with 12 volts, and mount the whole thing in the vent. And for $20, its a nice cheap project!

You could easily run constant 12 to two circuits, each of which using a thermistor (thermal-resistor), however you would wind up with purple at "warm" temps. Keep in mind that LEDs do not have a very linear voltage-light output curve, they are for the most part on or off, with a very narrow section in between. You'll have to get the voltage dividers just right, or use incandescent bulbs with colored covers.

Does it offer PWM output?

 

i'm sure theres a way to do it. but you'd probably have to find different chips that sense temperature and connect circuits according to the temperature. look around on google. i'd love to see it

It shouldn't even need temp sensors or anything like that, just wire it into the temp knob somehow.

Except for those that have one of those new-fangled "digital" temp controls
