Recall in the works for Main Relay for Mazda3

I've had the problem described by many others where the engine immobilizer light flashes quickly when trying to start the car in cold weather. This has happened to me twice and I've only had my car for 3 weeks.

The first time I had to have it towed to the dealer and they moved the transponder. The second time I got it going when the tow-truck arrived and I drove the car to the dealer myself. Apparenly the main relay freezes when it gets really cold and that's what's causing the car to not start.

There are already 2 versions of this part and my car came with the newer one (apparently they're already working on a third). The dealer has ordered one of the older main relays because it's not supposed to freeze. The dealer also told me that there will probably be a recall on the main relay, but it won't be until the third version of it is ready.

Does anyone know what was wrong with the original version of the main relay? Why did they create a new version of it?

I forgot to mention that if this happens to anybody, they should open up the hood and take the main relay out of the fusebox (should be the fuse closest to you on the right if you're standing infront of the car facing the engine). Warm up the main relay (bring it inside, warm it in your hands) then put it back in. Should start up.
