Here's an interesting problem. Sunday evening I went to leave and my car wouldn't start. The battery appeared to be fine but the car doesn't even attempt to engage the starter. Tried jumping it and got nothing. Mazda had the car towed to them yesterday and tried blaming it on a number of bull items before they actually looked at the issue. First they accused me of disconnecting the battery. I walked into the shop with them and proved all lights, windows and radio works without issue. Then they said the key was bad and I had to demonstrate that it didn't matter which key it was the car wouldn't crank. Then they tried blaming me for letting the car sitting for a few months. They didn't even ask if the case and it's not but continued to try to blame it on that. After a few more hours they called saying they can't get their diagnotic equipment to connect to the ECU and were having someone fly out to further diagnose the problem. Anyone want to take bets on how long this takes to fix?

could be a while. reason i say that is because usually they're really busy and don't have the right person trying to diagnose your problem. once the right person looks at your car, it will probably take up to a half hour to diagnose. basically i would expect 3 days to a week for the car to get attention.

the above situation is typical, and i said that so you don't get your hopes up.. who knows, some people are blessed with an awesome dealer.

if you have a manual, your clutch switch may be bad.

This happen to me a few months back, and it was the battery. It can show between 12 and 13 volts constant but have low Amps. Mine was around 100 amps, very hard to jump it, but it will after a few tries. Tell them to put in a new battery to test it out.

This also just happen to my wifes SUV yesterday, same situation.

The dealer flew a Field Engineer out to look at the car and he thinks lightning hit the car but they can't find an entry point. If they had found an entry point it would have been an insurance claim but since they have no way of telling it's being covered under the warranty. One of the chips they took out was essentially flashed and didn't have data on it. Once it was replaced it lit up like a Christmas tree so every other chip in the car is being replaced.
