Just wondering what could be wrong with my car. I got a new key fob for my car and tried to program it, but it wouldnt work. So I decided to let the good folks at the Mazda dealership do it. No Luck. They said that it was something wrong with my car, that it wouldnt even go into the programming mode and that i'd have to get diagnostics done to find out what was wrong. They couldnt do it today, they were closing in 15mins.....go figure.

So does anyone have any ideas what could be the problem?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated

Couple of questions.

First off where are you located?
Second do you have any working remotes now?
Third what are the FCC and visteon numbers on the back of the new remote?
If you have a working remote already do the numbers match the new remote?
Lastly was the programming method you tried THIS one?

If it won't even go into the programming mode then obviously that's a problem, though I don't know what would be wrong that would cause that aside from the ECU itself.

My Sister lost both her remotes and we are now having the same problem. I bought 2 new ones off of eBay which came with programming instructions. The instructions matched the ones I had found posted on here too. Her car is an 07 sedan though.

The car will acknowledge it is in programming mode, but won't accept the new remotes. Batteries in the new remotes are good too, we did check that.

is there a way to purge the system of the 2 old remotes and then add the new ones? Maybe it can only remember so many remotes?

Any help is appreciated!

I think it's more likely that you have the wrong remote. Bear in mind that the KEU changed in 2007 and remotes for '04-'06 Mz3's won't work on the newer KEU. Programming is the same for all 3's regardless of year..... it even works on most-all Mazda models. I'd check to be sure you don't have the old model remotes. Did they happen to come in a Mazda bag with a p/n on it? If not check what the visteon and FCC numbers on the back are and post them up.

The car's computer will accept up to three remotes. You don't need to worry about purging the system because when you program any remotes in it will automatically clear any that aren't programmed in at that time. That means if you have two working remotes and add a third, but only program the new remote (and don't redo the old ones) that the old ones will become un programed and only the new one will work.

Thanks for the reply!

I got the numbers off the remotes I bought from eBay and they are:

Fcc: KPU41846
Visteon: 41846
IC: 4238A-41846

Looking again on eBay they seem to match the 2004-06 remotes listed now. I guess that's what I get for not looking into things before I jumped.

It looks like for 07-08 I need the 41794. Can someone confirm this is the # I need for a 07?

Well, anyone want an extra remote for a 04-06? :) I'll make you a deal on 1 or both!

You don't quite meet the forum requirements to sell items, but once you do you're more than welcome to start a FS thread. :) The numbers from a '07+ remote are:

Visteon: 41794
FCC: KPU41794

Thanks for the info. I never read the requirements to sell b/c it wasn't my intention, but I may read them now! :)

Back to eBay again!
