Hi,
I have an '05 5Dr and I guess it could be a coincidence, but the dealer just changed my oil and a day or two later i got the CEL.
- I checked my oil level and it's well over the limit. I have no idea if that actually matters
- I also just broke 50,000mi so no warrantee. there's a shocker
All kidding aside the light came on around 50,200. Unbelievable.
- On two separate occasions the car wouldn't start after getting gas. it took several attempts.
- Once or twice the car sputtered while sitting at a light but did not stall.
The codes are:
P0455 (came up twice) EVAP large leak. I keep hearing about my gas cap
P2187
P2195
P1287

Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks.

even though your are over warranty, if it is the dealership fault for setting off the CELs, they can be held responsible to fix the problem....esp if they over filled, but check your levels. Also, what does the other codes stand for? I can't look them up right now

I thought I had my account set up to notify me of replies. Guess not.
Here's the rest:

P0455 - EVAP large leak.
P2187 - Upstream O2 not switching
P2195 - Front HO2S signal stuck lean
P1287 - Fuel system too lean at idle

Sounds like O2 sensor to me. Is this something i can do myself? I'm mechanically inclined but have never dealt with this before. Where to look and what it looks like is a mystery to me. I'll start searching the forum for walkthroughs now.
Thanks

Front o2 sensor is the first one, is your car completely stock? I ask because I have two of those same codes coming up, 2187 and 2195. I'm hoping those are just because of a bad sensor. I have about 57,000 miles on my car and this problem just came up. Also, if you are only a few hundred miles over the warranty or even a thousand, the dealer will most likely do the work under warranty. I had a problem with my sunroof that they fixed with no problems.
