Here is one pic of my car with all three types of modern lighting available to cars. I labeled them with the appropriate name and short description. You can see that the Halogen shines whitish/orange
LED shines whitish/purple
HID shines whitish/Blue

I will post more pics tonight, will contain LIGHT output pics, and more comparison pictures.

Just wanted to post the one decent picture i have now with all three lights hooked up so everyone can see the difference in bulbs.

lumileds are doing some cool stuff with LEDS. I met with one of their reps at work a few weeks ago and they are starting to make white leds that have muliple chips in them (i.e white, red, blue, etc...) in order to compensate for the deficiencies you see in standard white leds today. The result is a purer white output instead of a purplish white.

no i dont use the fogs right now they are their for show untill i can get some people to start posting pics of some bulbs in my other post. i dont know whether to get yellow fogs or a HID match bulb. i think i might go with a yellow color though. 3200 Lumins for the HID 160 for the LED's.

have you seen the HID fogs that jhershorin is selling? Check out the UED area in the sponsor section if you haven't seen it.

yes i can get the LED's in the fog housing. this is exactly what project i am tied up in now. Should have it complete in about another month would be sooner but with school and work time for my car is short. I think the LED color compliments the HID well.

I spoke with a lighting expert about this. He said that today's LEDs don't produce enough lumens to operate at a high enough light output for the fogs. This is because that is a 55w (I think) plug and today's LEDs aren't made to operate at such a high wattage in cars.

I'm just relaying what he said, so if you get it to work let me know. I'd like to get some LEDs in there.

Thats irrelevnt, because I have 2 LED's arlready installed on my car and I will be installing more in the next month. Most people arent familar with the proper way to hook LED's up to a car. The ones that are know how to solve the problem he and many other people come up with regarding LED's and car applications. Give me one more month so I can complete the project then I will show you pictures of the completed project.

You're partially right. Most leds will not put out enough lumens (or candellas or whatever you prefer) to be a practical solution for fog lights or headlights. The lumileds or luxeon leds have incredible output capabilities at low voltages but require fairily high current to run them. The fact that the foglights take a 55w bulbs is irrelevant to wiring leds into them. You just need the proper resistors for the voltage and current at those plugs. Anyway, these high brightness LEDS need to operate at 1 to 2 amps a piece. Without any sort of optical lenses in from of these leds, which if you want any sort of beam is essential, you'll have to wire up quite a few in series to get a nice output. Angel of Darkness-are you using any sort of lens in front of these?
