DIY Oil Changes and Warranty

Based on what I am reading on this website, I can only conclude that doing your own oil and filter changes won't void the manufacturer's warranty. I've emailed Mazda requesting a confirmation that I can do my own oil but don't seem to be getting a reply. The dealer didn't say I couldn't but didn't say much of anything and at the time I didn't press him about the matter. I was on Consumer Affairs Canada website and couldn't find anything about rights respecting warranty versus maintenance not done by the dealer. I have read that in the USA Federal law clearly provides that maintenance by the manufacturer is not mandatory.

Can anybody point me to a source of information on this topic applicable to Canada?

So long as you have all your receipts, and there are no signs that improper maintenance procedures were a direct cause of any problem, your warranty will still be valid.

For example, if you forget to put an o-ring on the filter cartridge housing or something like that, and you lose all your oil slowly then your engine blows up, then it's all on you (and justifiably so). If something goes wrong with the engine but you did everything correctly with your oil changes and they can't prove otherwise, you're still covered.
