So I've been reading this forum a ton but haven't found anyone who has done this.
I'm just looking to modify the stock exhaust for better sound & tone. I've done exactly this on other cars with good results. Our current TSX, previous Hemi powered Dodge truck, etc.. It's just a matter of determining what to remove to get the sound you want without getting making it annoyingly loud or obnoxious.
While a really nice S.S. cat back exhaust would be nice, it's not really cost effective as it doesn't really much power on the Mazda or most other cars these days.
I just want to spend a couple of bucks to get a bit of attitude from our 2.3L.
Our 2009 Mazda3 2.3L auto has this exhaust system:
I'm debating whether to cut out the small front resonator or the small secondary cat or both.
I've been under the car checking things out & there is room to cut & weld either of those.
Anyone done anything like this??
