hi.

 

are they flickering as in turning on and off or do they just get dimmer then brighter? mine does this sometimes but its because of the dimmer switch rolling down when i hit bumps and stuff (because i dont have it all the way up)

 

I have it on the brightest setting and it flickers, but stays on. It's quite annoying at night. It doesn't happen over bumps, just happens frequently though. I could be stopped in my parking spot and it does it. No pattern though, but it happens enough that I made a thread on it. Hmm.

 

I was wondering, since this did start a day after a bad rain storm where I live, where there was some pretty high puddles, that it's something with the wiring. I was wondering if any of you guys knew where the dash instrument panel wiring is located so I can just make sure everything is tightly connected?

 

I had some pretty crazy rain here in TN this weekend and I had an electrical problem as well. Check your battery for water on the terminals and check the fuse box in the engine bay for water. Set up a fan and let it blow on that for a day to try and dry it out that's what I've done and so far seems to be fine. Mine didn't flicker though, just cut out completely.

 

Well, the rain was last week and I live in South Florida where it's been extremely hot the last few days. Do you think it would have dried itself out on it's own due to that? I will check regardless. lol, I hate sounding like a complete noob, but can you tell me where the fusebox in the engine bay is located? I have the battery terminals in check.

 

The fuse box will be to the right of the battery box and toward the front of the car. Also located directly right of the air box. I actually had water on the inside of the terminal connectors, so they may be tight but water could still be in there.

 

thanks for the quick replies, I will definitely give it a look through today after work. I was wondering if there were certain wires in there or fuses numbered or labelled for the dashboard. Also, I don't know if you saw my other panic thread (http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=171804) on how my gas gauge is reading empty when the tank is full, but do you know if this would be affected by water in that fuse box?

 

The fuse box cover has all the slots labeled. I wish I could help you with the other problem (I saw it too) but I don't know where to begin there. They could be connected though.

 

So I looked under my hood and checked out the engine fuse box. Everything seemed dry and I made sure all the connections were in there. The problem still persists.

Blah. Any other suggestions?

 

soooo did you change the battery? a had a same problem with it and after few starting the problem was gone ..
