Ran into an issue that is sticking with my car recently. I had this happen once before when I took my car on a 500-700 mile road trip. After a few days it cleared up, now I made a few trips at the end of July, one was pretty far about 500 miles in a day. I noticed this mid that week where the car, the first time you start it after sitting for awhile, just cranks for 5 or so seconds before it starts. At this point it seems to take longer maybe, but I can turn the car immediately back off and it cranks on like normal and starts after a crank or two. So its strictly first start, doesnt need to be warm or anything for symptoms to disappear. It is also not random its every time. Also no CEL and I have tried clearing codes and such.
Troubleshooting I have tried:
New plugs
Stretched springs in coils
Seafoam through vacuum line
Fuel treatment
Battery seems to be fine and reseated connections.
Purge valve
Clean MAF
Fuel pump relay
Again at this point when I turn the car on if it has been off for an hour or so, it will go back into this 5 second or so start. I also have tried leaving the ignition on for a minute or so before starting and pressing the gas to help starting. The ignition on trick didnt seem to help. The gas pedal trick seemed to work before changing the purge valve.
I believe at least the purge valve was faulty due to the fact when I seafoamed the engine, turning the car off and pulling out the key it proceeded to continue to run until Im guessing all the seafoam was gone and die as if it ran out of fuel. I have never had that happen before with any vehicle or other times I have applied seafoam.
Im just looking for any ideas, Im hoping its not the fuel pump for obvious reasons. Although it is working and hasnt left me stranded, I dont want to put the extra stress on the starter.
