Started noticing an ugly shift when accelerating in my 2007 Mazda 3 hatchback going from 3rd to 4th gear. Did a transmission fluid flush using Valvoline Maxlife, but the problem is still there. Only happens after the transmission heats up - like after 15min of driving on the freeway.
Saw a post of people experiencing the same problem on a Mazda 6.

And there's TSB "A/T 3-4 Shift Shock Under Load" bulletin number 05-010/10, which also applies to the 2007 Mazda 3.
I can't find a copy of the TSB, but someone summarized it as: "According to the TSB, the servo piston bore for the 2-4 band wears and causes the servo to leak oil. Mazda fixed the problem by making the pistion bore out of a harder material. The only permanent solution would be to replace that part with the new one, which requires taking the transmission apart."
Anyone have any more info on this? I can't believe getting a 'new' transmission is the only answer!
