Post your favorite cover songs, and the song that they were based off of.

My favorite is..

Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley, a cover from the original Leonard Cohen version.

Post em up!

Voodoo Chile - Stevie Ray Vaughan

Last Kiss - Live (I think)

A Little Less Conversation - JXL

**A lot of the covers that Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies are pretty good.**

just get the cover. the rest of the album was pretty boring IMO, but wicked game was so so good.

dweezil and ahmed zappa doing baby, one more time is freeking awesome if you can find it.

same with alabama 3 doing Hotel California.

i found them both on this bizarre french cover compilation album i got in london:

http://www.amazon.com/Musique-Paris-Derniere-Vol-3/dp/B00007F1TM/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_k2a_3_txt?pf_rd_p=304485601&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-2&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000054A78&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=180Y93JCCTQP197FZDBX

don't know if its worth 25 bucks, but its a hell of a good listen.

EDIT: OH, remembered 2 more:

The Smoking Popes doing "Pure Imagination" from Willy Wonka
Sheep on Drugs doing "Wish" by NIN

Evergreen Terrace does some good covers. Bloody Sunday is covered by them, as is The Kids Aren't Alright.

Other than that Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are good.

If you're going to talk about covers you gotta consider "If I Were a Carpenter" with songs by Sonic Youth doing Superstar, The Cranberries doing Close To You, Solitaire by Sheryl Crow, and Grant Lee Buffalo covering We've Only Just Begun.

Let me preface this by saying I'm not AT ALL a Fallout Boy fan, or a John Mayer fan, but I've reallly been enjoying the Fallout Boy featuring John Mayer's cover of Michael Jackson's Beat It. Really, it kicks ass! I don't know about an overall favourite cover though. I'd have to think about that for a long time.

Hurt - Nine Inch Nails -- originally done by Johnny Cash

Isn't it the other way around?  Johnny Cash did the cover.

Either way they are both good.
