Hi everyone, I'm new to this message board, and I know virtually nothing about cars, let alone how the lighting system works. I have a 2004 Mazda 3i, and was wondering exactly what i need to do to change my halogen bulbs into xenon bulbs. is it just as simple as going to the local car shop and buying xenon bulbs? or is it far beyond that? thanks!

The term "Xenon lights" has been overused. Xenon is simply a gas. It does not make any light. HID bulbs have Xenon gas in them as do some halogen bulbs (xenon is a "halogen" gas, so are helium, neon, argon, krypton and radon). This is making it hard to tell when someone wants info on HID or just wants blue lights. Aftermarket HID is now illegal BTW.

HID headlights are available in the 4s, it would be feasible to upgrade using Mazda parts and then still be legal

I know that i'm interested because HID lowbeam headlights are not available in Canada

I have no idea if aftermarket HID is illegal in Canada. They just changed it in the US a few months ago. Too many complaints to the NHTSB from people who were staring at the "different" headlights and getting "blinded". What a bunch of morons.
