it would be kind of tough for us all to meet at one :( but we could meet up with the people in our area, i believe they give dates and locations as to what states it's coming to. it sounds really cool, too bad i don't know how to drive stick.

Heh, closest city to me is Minne... I won't be attending. :D I just hope my dealership provides some prizes for a few drag racing events this year as they did last year, could be fun.

Wow, this year's schedule is pushed up. Coming to DC in May, track is going to be cold. Last year it was in late July, when parking lots were hot.

Does my driving a 3 give me an unfair advantage?

Anyone Go Last Year

For those of you who attended last year, did everyone have to drive manual or were the cars auto? I'm stoked for this event! Hope to see some of you in the DC location.

Ya, all the cars were auto. Not a bad thing really, since all you do is shift into second after the first corner and then stay there for the rest of the trip. Not having to worry about the clutch allowed me to concentrate on the driving.... not that I did very well. 444 was my score. What about you guys?

Yeah Fobby it was kinda neat. I never went out but I was in getting a service done on my Pro5 before doing a road trip to Tofino on the Island there and saw the sign. They had 3 dates where there were import specific bracket race days. If you were driving a Mazda vehicle and won on one of those days then you got some prizes from Sunridge. I don't know if it was all the Mazda dealers in Calgary doing it or not but I saw it at Sunridge at any rate. I hope they do it again because not only did I not feel like racing my Pro5 (too slow) but the dates fell onto days where I was at weddings or out of town.

Have you done much racing at Race City Fobby? I've gone on several Fridays when I had my Supercharged 86 Mustang GT and my 97 SHO, plus some racing at Thunder Mountain in Kelowna when I used to live in Vernon. I got a Runner Up trophy in the Fast Ford bracket race at Race City 3 years ago in my SHO, lost out to a 99 Lightning. I was going to win but I paniced and tapped the brakes so I wouldn't break out (even though I was fine if I didn't).

Ah well, still a blast anyways.

I just signed up for the session in Bay Area, CA (at the Alameda base), though, I'm on the waitlist :( so anybody who is on this board who doesn't plan to attend the Bay Area, CA meet, let me know :)

From what I read on the website, you pay the nominal fee of $40 and they give you a car to drive. You get an instructor who will teach you how to drive the car. You'll also get to compete in two timed laps. The two timed laps will determine if you're a semi finalist for the Mazda 3 they are giving away.

All this for $40? Sounds like fun.

Any other Mazda enthusiast here going to the meet on March 6th or 7th? Maybe I'll see you there.
