Hopefully someone here has experience with either one of these tires I have found a place that will sell Toyo T1S tires for the same price as Yokohama AVS ES100 tires....I was wondering how these two tires compare to each other I have heard the Toyos are amazing in wet weather.

Toyo's T1-s is superior to the ES100 because the tire's sidewalls are stiffer. You will get better traction in wet also.

The only place where the ES100 might have an edge is that they make less noise but apart from that T1-S is the best tire between the two.

The Toyo T1-S is a fantastic tire. It offers great lateral stability, great wet traction, and great dry traction.

Its also a VERY lightweight tire. (Less unsprung weight).

There are other tires that do better in the dry, but none that do both wet and dry as well as the Toyo T1-S (excluding Racing Compound Tires like the RA-1)

Did I mention the tread also looks bad ass?

I would also go for the T1-S if they're the same price. Reasons all given above..... ;)

The ES100's weight is "average" to "slightly heavier than average". T1-S is one of the lightest tires I could find.

Where is this place you're buying the tires from?? I"m deciding between the two tires as well.

The yokohama es 100's are a decent tire for the price. I purchaced mine in a 205/50 15 for about 80 a piece. That being said.

The PROS
-quite ride
-decent grip
-low price

the CONS
- soft sidewall
- only lasted 25k till treadwear markers
- grip goes to crap at the end of tire life. I could break traction in 1st gear in a civic si just from rolling on the throttle from 5mph at any temperature below 50 degrees F.

Like I said, its a decent tire for the price but I'd definitely chose the toyo's over that tire.

25K isn't bad at all for a performance tire!

I'd be happy if my T1-S lasted that long.

BTW - the T1-S are quiet(at least when new!) and have a somewhat squishy sidewall to increase comfort, bt still grip very well - better than the Yokohoma AVS-ES100 by all accounts. The Yoko AVS sport is more comparable - the ES100 is a rung blow.

To the OP - if you're getting T1-S (not the other Proxes - FZ4 or proxes4 - they're only All Seasons) for the same price as the Yokes - duh - its a no-brainer! Unless the Yokes are overpriced there.

budgy - those Toyos aren't quite as good as the T1-S. They eased off on the aggressiveness, softened the sidewall and increased the treadwear so they last longer. Not that that's bad, but I'm getting new tires too, to replace my T1-S and I'm not getting T1-Rs (unless the dealer wows me with a deal I can't refuse!)

Hankook Ventus RS2 Z212 most likely. Or ...

And yeah, what a blast from the past from blam - I was subscribed to this thread and the other Toyo one and visited the 3forums for the first time in months because of the email notification!
