Just think for a minute. Honda has Acura, Sporty, attractive, luxury.
Toyota has Lexus, Luxurious, refined, smart.

The list goes on.
I don't see this happening anytime soon, if ever due to Fords large ties with the company, but what would a lineup for a Luxury mazda brand look like?

I've sat inside a top of the line CX-7 and it's impressive. Though not quite "Lexus/BMW" quality, they have luxury in their genes and an eye for beautiful design, not just tacky features

Any thoughs, ideas, suggestions. I wonder what name they would choose too...

Mazda did try creating a luxury brand a few years ago with the Millenia i think. They just don't have the funds to have another brand because they didn't sell as much as say- Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. They only have 3,5,6,8,cx7,cx9, b-series,miata. I think they're just doing their best with their interiors so they wouldn't need luxo models.

remember when the 3 first came out-- everyone marveled about how "elegant" the interior was compared to the bland crap the other cars had in the same class. The higher end comparison would just be the Volvo S40.

Well, Ford seems to be basing everything on the Mazda6 platform. I guess a luxury Mazda would look like this - - -

Mazda would definitely shoot for a "sporty and fun" luxury car. It's their whole idea of marketing...

Anyways, Mercedes has the CL and ML with all those curves.

I think that Mazda's luxury car would try to follow in Mercedes footsteps by shooting for sexy curves, that make the car look sleek chic, and capable... Yet classy.

In the mid 90's, Mazda had created plans for a luxury division called Amati. They even had a v12 luxury saloon ready to roll, had a specialist dealer network ready, but changed economic conditions scuttled the idea which had already cost them many hundreds of millions of dollars. The money they lost on this venture caused the beginning of the slump which would they only now are starting to come out of.
