Nice! Ya, I don't know what battery they used or whatnot, but it cost like $175.

Ain't no such thing as a lifetime warranty on a battery. Duralast gold is a 3 year free replacement.

I believe my battery is original as well. (I know I haven't replaced it yet, and my car is also an 04). I'm expecting it to die this year especially with the super cold weather I've been having. I'm going to buy a good battery when it does shit the bed.

Most oem batteries average 3 years. Anything after that its just a ticking time bomb...getting a new battery is cheap insurance against getting stranded somewhere you don't want to be.

So a bad battery causes the dash to go apeshit? I'll have to remember that in case it happens to me.

Yeah, it does that on my 08.5 as well. Three weeks without driving anywhere plus messing around with the headlights/foglights/parking lights (was working on the indy fog mod) equals low battery and dash freaking out when you go to try and start it. Now whenever I let the car sit, I charge the battery with a 600mA trickle charger for 24 hours once a week.

Same here.

Today, my car's battery also died. Luckily, it was still in the afternoon, so I took this video:

(oh, and FYI: your Dad is faster than road side service - even if you're a civilian in a military base)
