It's the on board diagnostics. Your dealer hooks up a computer to it and check the car's vitals so to say. Pretty neat huh!
What is this plug for?

I was just detailing the car yesterday and happened to look underneath my dash and up into the little cubby space below and to the left of the steering wheel (by where your left knee is). Now if you look at the top of that little space there is a plug attachment there, does anyone know what this is for, i cant think of an option that would use that space. I had taken pictures but they came out blurry so not worth posting. Just wondering if you could figure it out.

yep, that's the OBDII (On-Board Diagnostics vII) port for connecting a scanner.
