if people are so hellbent on running quick times at a dragstrip why use fwd? It does not belong in a dragstrip, plain and simple. Yea, it's a fun challenge trying to make a little 4 cylinder car run quick, but it's ignorance to deny the fact that if you really just want to go FAST you would build a light rwd car with a good suspension setup. I didn't say i don't support running fwd cars at the track, i said they really have no place there. I'm not the one being the jackass here, bud. and as far as a lighter car going the same time with the same power, that sure as hell better be accurate. If you can't get a 3100lb car with 285whp to run high 12's... SOMEBODY can, plain and simple.
im ignorant? i guess according to you 12s in a rwd is faster than 12s in a fwd. what fucking kind of bullshit is that. have you ever taken physics? last time i checked, d=r*t. where is the variable for fwd, rwd, awd???

you're passing off your severly misguided opinion as fact.

if rwd was the end all be all, why are you driving a 3?

fix your sig before i call the sig police and get one thing straight. im not your fucking buddy!

that is alot more reasonable of a post. the mazda3 is actually a pretty good fwd platform to work with if you want to build. ya the tranny's are weak but if u are seriously shooting for good times then you are going to work on it anyway. adding billet gears, internals, and a properly sized turbo mixed in with the suspension and tranny components i mentioned in an earlier post...this car is a blast...i love the feeling of pulling next to evos, sti's and srt4's and walking them...and then the always enjoyable cocky m3, m5, m6 guy who thinks he's hot shit with his silly patterned polo and oversized necklace and sunglasses tries to show off by racing a silly "ricer" in a mazda3 until he is seeing my tail lights 30 ft ahead of him...yes - we do have a bunch of guys with body kits and slow mazda3's but i dont think they are really into the racing thing. i decided to keep my car looking as stock as possible because i dont care if the people around me look at my car and go man thats just a normal mazda3. i did what i did because i love the feeling of boost, hitting that threshold where the person in the passenger seat begins to clench there hands on whatever they can find becaues of the acceleration is what makes me smile. ya i have had buyers remorse a few times...usually its in my bed at nite but when that happens i go for a drive and step on it and feel o so much better hehe

so you're telling me a 3100lb fwd with 285whp will be just as quick as a 3100lb rwd car with 285whp? The reason i gave that example(which i assumed most people who understand how drag racing works) is because of 60' times. A fwd car will simply not achieve the same launches a rwd car with.

I can see your immaturity is causing you to get vulgar so i'll try to end this discussion in this post. I never said it was FASTER, I said quicker. a big difference.

And i NEVER said rwd was the end all be all, but i do believe it's going to take a miracle for a fwd to run mid 4's. As far as drag racing is concerned, yes, rwd IS a better platform, plain and simple. Thanks for remind me!

and i drive a 3 because my camaro did not like driving 50 miles each way to school, so i bought an ECONOMY car.

thanks bud.

RWD is better imo. My LT1 camaro with drag radials and traction bars launched hard. 1st gear in my 3 isnt too useful for power takeoffs. Obviouslt I dont have a LSD but the traction isnt great. And Im running 225's summer tires.

But if you really want to compare. AWD, EVO STi is the way to go. AWD pwns all. But I think a FWD setup can launch well, but you wont be able to turn it cuz the slicks wont let you.

awd has it's limits though, plus a price tag(which is a moot point.) Once you've kicked the ass end out pulling into traffic for the first time, it's hard to get away from rwd. I tried to keep my camaro, but it just wasn't practical at the time, and i knew i would be starting a project car asap. I've got a block ready, but i am yet to decide what i want to put it in.

I'm on Stech tien's, and I'm debaiting on some coils. I've also got some pretty nice tires on there, so it grips well enough (I think this does... who knows). My car was tuned for streetability, so it never touched a dyno. I'll be sure to dyno the new kit though.

So what's the difference?
is that a serious question?? Fast pertains to rate of travel quick pertains to duration....

euro have you ever been to a drag strip?

and my car weighs a little more than that. add a 10 in the trunk, and a whole turbo kit up front.
I'm probably a bunch closer to 3klbs.

I wanted to buy an evo, but jerad talked me out of it. I alreay have a 3 and a turbo. so I'm most of the way there.

Jake I'm still runnin the emanage (well when the turbo's on) and I don't have a 28, I have a gt25 so mine pretty much spools at idle... I definatly have to roll on the gas in my car.
The turbo's supposed to be good for 300 wheel, so I guess that's my goal. If the 25 can't get me there then I'll just have to invest in a 35...

whoa whoa whoa...the 25 is not good to 300 to the wheels...garretts website says 250...the gt28rs is good for about 320whp...anyhting over 250 on the gt25 is completely out of its efficiency...running 12s is IMPOSSIBLE without nitrous with that turbo...id be impressed to see low 13s with it
