I'm looking at getting a 3 and wondered what some of you owners were using on your dash. I usually use Vinylex (like Armor All, but better), but wonder how it would work on the textured plastic on the 3. The plastic used on the center console around the cupholders isn't smooth either (BTW does this plastic scratch easily?). I was worried that the texture would make it really hard to apply the Vinylex evenly. Any thoughts?

I use something by Meguiar's-vinyl and rubber shine or something. It works well on the textured stuff. I don't have any problems applying it evenly, but I'm assuming that the textures in the 3 and the 6 are similar.

The interior plastic is tricky. It DOES scratch easily. DO NOT PUT YOUR CHANGE IN THE CUP HOLDERS. I did this, scratches everywhere. Use the ashtray for this if you have one. It's easy to pull out and get at, and it's metal. Also, trim your nails often

I use Mother's protectant. To wipe clean, I just use a damp cloth. My buddy who has an Altima recommended this to me because Altimas have a very similar plastic interior to the 3.

ewww. Stay away from armor all. It has a greasy feel, attract more dust and once you start using it you are stuck with it because it alters the vinyl's look.

303 Aerospace. Its water based and has a UV protectant.

Armor all also cracks when it dries, very nasty stuff, I just used that on my 1975 Datsun B210

Zaino makes a complete car detailing kit extremely good quality stuff for every component for your car

Yeah stay away from Armour All. Vinylex is an excellent replacement product for it. I don't think the dimples on the dash and that are so deep that a good sponge or soft cloth couldn't distribute the cleaner/protectant of choice properly. I tmay take a wipe or two more to smooth it out but meh, shouldn't be a big deal.

303 is good stuff! I used it on my Wrangler, and will on the 3. It doesn't seem to be a dust magnet like most of the other products. It's not the cheapest, but it's the best I've used

i find that it's the best........doesnt scratch and picks up all the dust

but i am curious........r there any certain protectants to use in the interior? i'm a bit worried that in time....the black will fade cuz of the sun (similar to applying wax on the exterior for the paint)

As an alternative: I have never used any dash protectants and an occasional wipe with a soft cloth has kept the dash clean and presentable. Modern plastics used in vehicles are already u/v protected from the manufacturer and the stuff like Armour All, Vynellex etc just evaporates and condenses on the inside of your windscreen and you end up having to try and clean it off. Just my opinion. Lol

It's pretty much the same as armorall. Didn't notice any dust attraction or overgreasiness.

It looks as if it isn't greasy after a few days, but it still attracts as much dust as lots of other products. Maybe I'll just go back to 303, but I hate having to order it.

Armor All is a no no in the auto detail community. When I worked there my boss wouldn't allow us to use it on the interior. I guess that it absorbs the heat from the sunlight more and over time it'll lead to pre-mature dash cracking. Plus it leaves everything greasy.
