After reading what happened to birdy and his new 3, what alarm or company do you recommend? I'm looking for something to replace the key fob, which will work the doors as well as the trunk, monitor the glass and will IMMOBILIZE the car.
Still, I think an alarm is a waste of time. Especially since the only deterent is the equivalent of the blinking LED light (already mimicked by the engine immobilizer LED). If a theif wants your car they'll get it and probably be able to disable the audible warning as well. Go all out if you're going to and get a lo-jack or an onstar system which can track your car.
You might deter the basic criminal, but if it's someone that knows their stuff, an alarm isn't going to do squat. When was the last time you looked at a car with the alarm going off?? (other than in utter annoyance)
I would try to get an aftermarket onstar system, if they even do that.
