my GFs cousin runs a dealership, and last time we were up visiting him he was really excited about it. he had her sit in it and lower the roof, and we got to just generally give it a good once over.

as nondescript as it looks in pictures, i really liked it in real life. i cant even tell you what it was i liked about it. the hard-top convertible is really slick, and the nose angles down in a pleasing way, but i cant say why. it was in the show-room, so i cant say a thing about driving, but just first impression i was very impressed.

he then went on to talk about how VDubs are over engineered and a giant pain to work on, and it reminded me why i went with the SPEED3 again. they sure know how to do fit and finish though.

That whole sunroof in the hardtop thing is pretty cool. The one I saw was black and I thought it looked pretty good.

I will never by a VW regardless of looks. They just have issues keeping their value, and have major electrical problems. My gf's 04 New Beetle, starting at like 19,000 has gone down to 9,800 in less then 3 years!! Besides that, this one seems like a step in the right direction for VW.

It is expensive, but really is bland IMO, Euro Tuner and the tuner scene thinks likewise also, that it may go the way of the beetle, and interest the non tuner point a to b crowd who like a convertible.

The same can be said for the Cabrios from the MKII-MKIV generations, the eos is supposedly the new answer for the Cabrio.

With VW being big with their interior designs, I do agree and see this interior as a bit bland, maybe its the colors or something, but it needs a touch of the Jetta/rabbit style interior.

yeah, the sunroof in the retractable hardtop is cool, but overall, the car is just blah. Too heavy, too soft, and too slow to be really interesting.

That colour is horrible on that car. It should look sporty, not bubbly girly. Fiance quickly mentioned how she disliked the look of it. It IS a very plain looking car, and again terrible colour, but it looks much better in silver, black, etc because of the big front end chrome grill. Not a good match with baby blue.
