The Mazda 3 that is launched in Singapore comes with a 1.6 VVT engine. While most postings on the engine feature mention the SVT, i wonder is this the same as VVT or VVT is the improve version over SVT?

If they are different, what is their differences in terms of fuel consumption and performance? Also, it seems that the Mz3 is heavier and also with 2 bhp lesser on spec than the 323. While the Mz3 certainly has the killer looks, i hope the new engine do not let down its looks.....

Just curious that if the SVT and VVT is the same, why do they termed it differently? i.e. Sequential Valve Timing vs Variable Valve Timing.

IMO the name depends on geomarket. The 1.6L is advertised in the press realease with S-VT, but in Spain they call it VVT. But it's of course the same engine.
