We originally heard this noise only when letting the clutch out but now it is all the time....accelerating and pushing the clutch in and such. anyone else have this problem?

sounds like it could be the throw out bearing
does it make noise all the time? does pushing the clutch in or having the clutch all the way out make a difference?
I guess it was only when letting the clutch out but now it is all the time. Pushing on the gas or clutch or letting the clutch out too. :dunno:
go back to the dealer u bought it from and let them deal with it

does it make noise when you are in neutral, off the clutch and reving the engine?
Hmmm.....let me call my husband and ask.....
He said not while just sitting there....Only when using the pedals. Gas and Clutch.
Release bearings don't whine, normally whining under those conditions is caused by a backlash problem in the ring and pinion, but sinces its FWD it would probably be either a wheel bearing or tranny problem

difficult to diagnose this one over the web. does the noise occur when standing still (not rolling forward)and operating the pedals?

does it make this noise when you are standing still and hit the gas reving the engine? does the pitch change with rpms?

Gosh this makes me mad....my husband drives the car so I need to get him to tell me what is going on.
Could just be drive line noise that hes not used to hearing i used to get similar responses when driving people in WRX's :dunno:
We used to have a WRX too. Loved that car.....

I will see tomorrow I guess
i have exactly the same problem
sounds like humming coming from the front of the car

the problem occur when the car brakes are little bit hot/ driven for a while and at low speed
about 10-15mph, after i lift the clutch and speed up

when i check the brake rotor seems like it is warping or little scratch , not smooth (probably you want to check your rotors)

i brought to dealer when the car has 26 miles , then again at 100miles. they donot know what happened and when i brought to them the car seems fine, only after i change my oil ad the mechanic drove it , he realized the car definitely has humming sound , only for a while though

i schedule the car to be diagnosed and tested this week, i will keep update
See less See more
I get that too, but only when my girlfriend is in the car.
Thanks guys. :)

Nice whining noise when GF in car.

Yeah ours is still making that noise....just not as bad. So frustrating.

is your work claiming that it is a non issue?
Did anyone figure this out? I noticed this the first night I had my car and still have the issue from time to time. It seems the warmer the brakes are the more it happens. For me the noise is very slight with the wheels a 0 degrees or at any left turn, but VERY noticeable with just a few degrees of right turn. I can hear it up to 30mph but is worse at 5-15mph.
Now that you all mention it, it does seem to happen more often when I have a passenger.

I had a similar problem for the first 1000 or so km. After driving for a while the right front brake would hum. It was worse at low speed and turning. The noise would go away if I pressed the brakes slightly, but then start up again after I released the brake. I only hear the noise very rarely now. I think the noise goes away permanently after the brake pads wear down a bit.
