From what my friend that works at Valvoline tells me it depends on the what type. The 5w20 that our motor takes is a full synthetic, but some of the other grades are a synthetic blend. But he could be wrong. I run it in my car and i dont have an isue with it.
If by true synthetic you mean along the lines of Redline, Royal Purple, Torco, etc. then NO, it's not a true synthetic. It's highly refined dino oil (Group III). Think Castrol Syntec. Like I said though, I've heard some good things about it. The problem is the price that it sells for. You can get better Group III synthetic for a cheaper price (Pennzoil Platinum).
Synpower's a good oil... but I definitely think it's overpriced (along with all of Valvoline's other products). A 5-quart jug of Castrol Syntec @ Wal-Mart runs you just under $22... and it's in the same category of "synthetic" oil. Or as mshu7 said, Pennzoil Platinum is typically at a great price IF you can find it for the good price :? I can't in my area...
Great to see you back man! It's been a while since we've heard from ya!

Been hanging around a new Dodge forum... I still lurk around here though, and I try to stay in contact with my fellow mods / admins.
