Our strut towers are so close to the firewall that any gain would be mental. That being said, there is nothing with a little underhood eye candy and the price was right. I wouldn't change it out for another as the money is usually best spent elsewhere.

then why did the engineers at mazdaspeed decide to reinforce the strut towers if there is no gain to be had????

You've gotta remember, the MS3 has nearly double the torque and 100 more hp. All of which would put more strain on the car when accelerating. Personally, I had one, took it off, and felt no difference.

I've not met a mazdaspeed engineer to ask. As you're well aware, the MS3 is a very different car then ours.

its actually not much different chassis wise, suspension geometry is the same, roll stiffness is increased though. now the speed does weigh a bit more on the nose, and has heavier wheels with stickier tires. im sure that lead to some amount of unwanted chassis flex.

what sucks about that bar are the legs that attach to the actual bar. it doesnt line up straight and is real bendable. its also stupid to have those locking nuts on both sides of the actual bar. one side would have been fine. but for 35 shipped, you can't beat that at all for just a little bling under the hood.
