Any idea when the short shifter for the MS3 will be out? Haven't heard back from them yet. Wondering if anyone else had bothered to ask em.
I hope whatever they are making has a double-adjustable arm. This way they can weight it heavy enought to maintain a smooth shift. Just chopping one down isn't enough. I trus that they ae doing it right.
The shifter for the ms6 was released and the one for the ms3 won't be out for at least another month.
here is a thread showing pics of the one for the ms6.

Yeah i was hearing April ish from them last I talked to Kevin. If they are still interested in doing a group buy I'll be sure to post it :) Probably do some bushings in the group buy too if there is any interest.

What do you mean by double-adjustable? I would like a SS, but the turnoff is generally the cup holder bottles crashing with my hand and the harder shifting. It generally requires and upgraded (heavier) shift nub, which are not cheap.
if the shifter has some weight under the knob it is easier to move the link arms. some of the companies make them with height and throw adjustments to accomplish two feats. One is to keep the shifter wieght close to stock, and the other is to provide some flexibility for different drivers.

yeah that would be great, then people can do the install all at once
Read somewhere that someone from TWM said our stock shift knob is rather heavy, and we probably would not need an alternate.

You are right. I took it off for the bushings install and though that it was heavy enough, but I wouldn't know if it was as heavy as needed for a SS.
I emailed TWM last night - drove my friends MZ3 with the short shifter and it made me realize how long our throw is for the MS3. here is their response:

Hi Matt,

We are revising our design and making a few additional changes, we hope to
have a prototype in 2-3 weeks. If all goes well ( it rarely does) we
could begin selling the Mazda speed 3 at the end of May 2007.

Best regards
Oh well - hopefully may/june we'll see it!
bah...

Hi Matt,

We are now looking at sometime in July. We have had some scheduling and
also some delay in production. In another month we should know if it will
be the beggining or the end of July.

Sorry about the delays I know you are asxious to have the shifter.

Best Regards,

Count me in on a GB, when/if one is offered!
Whats the difference between the 6 and the MS3? Is it that big a difference?

apparently its a pretty significant difference, otherwise i'm sure TWM would've released this a long time ago. i think they want this on the market just as bad as we do :)
So WHEN!?
