Trying to tap HIDs to ignition wire for DRL.. HIDs won't come on!

1568 Views 14 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  aznkid.com
Ok, so I understand that if I take my white wire and tape it into the Ignition wire (Green with silver), my HIDs should come on when the keys are turned. I didn't hard wire, but just touched terminals when the keys are turned and nothing happens except it makes a clicking noise.. How can I fix this?

Here's a video of the situation:

ensure the relay has a solid ground, does the HID ballast buzz?

-Devin
Yes, the relay has a solid ground.. and no, the HID ballast does not buzz..

I've added a video to the thread at the top to show it.. turn up the volume to hear the clicking
Ok, so I took off my ground, sanded the paint down to bare metal, put the ground back on and tried to wire it to my signal bulb..

when I put the e-brake down with the keys in, the HIDs still flicker and the amber corners still don't come on..

Hmmm sounds like you have the wrong wire tapped then. The HID's sound not flicker at all.

It's the white signal wire that I'm using.. I've tried both the green/silver ignition and the amber corner wires too..
Then there sounds like an issue somewhere.

Can you confirm all these connections

Red - Battery
Black - Ground
White - Signal (amber corners)
Yellow - HID kit positive
Blue - HID kit positive on other side

For some reason I have 4 of those big plugs when really I should only have two.. I haven't seen anyone else's HID setup with extra plugs!

The red wire from teh wire harness that comes from the HID kit should be pluged into the Yellow and Blue wires.

-Devin
It looks like you might have received two sets of wire harnesses by mistake
Ok, so I figured it out..

I took out these useless wires:

and it works.. what a pain in the ass!
