Hi,

I own a 2008 Mazda 3 2.0l sedan, and i’m interested in swapping to a 2.5l from a ford fusion 2011. Ive seen a few people go from 2.3-2.5 pretty smoothly without many issues, and i’m just wondering if this is a good idea at all and what you guys think i would need to do for it to work.

Should work. Both share essentially the same block. You’ll need to swap the oil pan, crank pulley and any sensors attached to the engine. You’ll also need either a 2.5 intake manifold or an intake manifold adapter.

I did it and did a high compression motor from a hybrid. Much easier than I thought it would be and took two days with me taking my time and cutting my own valve reliefs in the pistons while in the block. If you do a non-hybrid motor, no piston work is needed.
