Went dead on my automatic. It has 26,000 miles on a 2004. AT light came on after I couldn't go 3 feet without my car switching in between first and second every 4 seconds. The manual of it works fine but if I put it in drive it goes all crazy.

I dropped it off at a Mazda dealership. Mazda thankfully will cover the $4,000+ on transmission BUT I need to pay the regular mainteance (15,000 mile) of flushing the coolant for $385 (does it really cost this much--I was expecting just like $150). There is a $30,000 mainteance too BUT that is more expensive (how much more expensive can the flush cost?)

They will try to place me in a renter car. Just a story about a transmission that gone wrong in 04 AT.

BTW, they called my speaker that is under the hood my after-market security system and told me it will have to removed as after-market security systems voids the warranty in some sense. Funnny thing is, it is not a security-system it is a speaker that plays animal sounds, police sounds, ice cream man sounds, etc. :klavergreg:

Coolant flush for $385 seems high. I wonder if they are just trying to make some non-warranty work because they're doing your transmission. To be honest, they should do the transmission and if you want your coolant done, then I'd tell them you want it done elsewhere. 26,000 miles does NOT really mean coolant service anyways.

Yeah, before I'd do a $30,000 maintenance, I'd get a new car. jk heh I know what you mean.

Is yours a 5-speed?

I called another mazda dealership they quoted me like $285. Then I called back mazda who be working on my car and explained. He worked out a deal so he now will only charge me $300 for like all the flushes that can be done to the engine. The flush will be done after the transmission is installed.

hehe, those speakers are cool. Got a link to more info on the model you have?

I've searched for prior doing the post but had no luck. I will have to try to find the box in my parents very messy garage. I purchased it from pepboys 4 years ago.
