One of the members on our local mazda3 forum found a Thule recall and thought I'd pass the info to the members here:

Quote:
I found a recall on the Thule fixpoint system for the Mazda3 on www.thule.com. Essentially the bolts holding the rack in place can break off under load.

Cars affected (Mazda3, Mazda5 amongst others):

Fix point systems affected (Mazda3/5 use 3069):

So don't buy that rack for the time being until the distributors obtain the updated bolts.
There are other fix point solutions, one being Yakima Landing Pad 11 + supporting hardware and Thule 460R Podium system + supporting hardware.
If you have the rack already, then you should be part of the recall and be able to get updated bolts.

Good information-- thanks for posting. I believe this will be involving a lot of people on this forum, myself included. I know for a fact that the bolts I have are the 'error' black bolts. I won't be taking any chances! Going to start the recall process today...
