08 hatch 2.3 manual

- Distance between shifter and console arm rest is too great. You should be able to have your arm at least partially on the armrest while shifting, my elbow barely rests on it.

- Console cup holder location. Anything taller than a soda can hits your arm when shifting. Drinks with straws are the worst offenders.

- Rear seat leg room. My old Escort had more leg room with the seat all the way back than the 3 does with it partially back.

- Rear cargo room. It isn't bad but my Escort wagon had more room. My skis barely fit.

- Factory speakers are terrible. Easily fixed though.

2013 Speed 3:

I would say the only thing that is kind of silly is the lack of a temp gauge from Mazda. Also, the "area" around the cig lighter could be cheaper to fit a larger cell phone.

The American Manual does a "CYA" and lists "No Towing." Whereas the Euro version lists 550kg (1,200 lb) unbraked and 900kg (2,000 lb) towing capacities..

I understand their attempt at lowering owner complaints when people overload that crap but honestly, I'd like to be towing one of these: when I go camping..

That and the large driver side windshield wiper (no matter the wiper brand) is too large for little pressure on the windshield so it "skips" across the glass. Very annoying when you live in a rainy area.

Oil filter on the Skyactiv model is not a common part also, and 99% of car shops will give you the wrong one. (or worse, you'll have a shop change it and they will remove yours before they even realize they don't have a replacement)

Still my favorite car (besides the speed3) though:alaugh:

Hard Seats, Lots of Road Noise

Luv my 2014 S-Touring HB on all fronts but two: seats and road noise. I test vehicles for a living. The Mazda3 S-Touring's seats are the firmest out there. But my biggest complaint is it can be deafening driving at speed over any road surfaces other than slick asphalt. Interior noise is loud enough to actually interfere with using the voice-activated command system while driving down the interstate. Adding sound deadening material under the molded carpet solves the noise issue--not sure how to fix the seats.

2014 Mazda 3 touring sedan.
1. Where the power plugs inside the console. Some of my power adapters are too big to close the console while plugged in.
2. Road noise.
3. The odd plugs on the lights needing more expensive LEDs. (non polarity)
4. Price of some accessories such as the all weather floor mats and the vent shades.
Other than those it is a great car.

Would you mind sharing what you used and describe what you did in enough detail that I might follow? Did you have to remove the seats? Console? Got photos? Thanks.

We're hoping to buy an i Touring hatch, if we can ever find one with a manual transmission in an acceptable color. SWMBO wants Blue Reflex, period.

On the test drive, the tires whined. I'll bet almost any tire other than the OEM will cut the noise by half. It certainly did on our 2007. Conti DWS is the ticket if you need all-seasons.

BTW, I love the cloth seats. They're much more comfortable than the seats in our present 2007 Sport hatch. Our bodies might be different shapes, though. :)

Noisy Mazda3 S-Touring Hatchback Interior Brought Under Control With Boom Mat Sound Deadening Material Install.

I may do this in a couple of years if the road noise gets on my nerves, but I don't care for now. And I don't have a place to do this.

It's hard to dislike anything after 600+ miles, but the road noise would be the first if I had to chose. Another one would be a lack of electric hatch lock mechanism (the one that pulls the door shut automatically, so you don't have to slam it) ;).

No aux input. Makes me so mad -_-
This! I've watched some youtube vids of people taking the stereo out and plugging in an adapter to put in an Aux input, I wish it just came with it though.

Road noise would be another of my complaints, I imagine the hatchback makes the noise off the rear wheels even worse.

2006 s 2.3 GT manual sedan:

I'd like to see better tilt and telescope steering options along with more options for seat positioning. Gear shift pattern is a little short in the 3 lower gears, but sufficient for aggressive shifting. A/C should definitely have a thermostatic expansion valve instead of an automatic. Pass wiper sits a little high. Make the pedals adjustable like Ford did in the Taurus (2001), and space them a bit better. Nav update is $200 (ouch). Carpet is thin but nice factory floor mats help. And yeah the paint is on the thin side.

Mostly nit picky stuff for an otherwise solid, nicely built automobile. But they are things I would certainly be willing to pay a little bit more for. Except the Nav. I think $200 on the update is a little steep. $100 is a lot more reasonable.

2005 Mazda 3 Hatchback

Cons - A/C is kinda weak
Thin carpeting
No aux input (at least on mine as I bought the car used)

2010 Mazda3 GT Hatch 2.5

Road noise: To be expected for a car this size though.
Cheap and noisy plastic steering wheel controls: Drives me a little crazy..lol
Paint: Little on the thin side in some areas.

2008 mazda 3. Cheap plastic interior fitment. What I mean is there could have been a few rubber backed seals put in between some of the panels and a better quality dash. The seats are not great for comfort. Horrible camber curve on the rear suspension (too much static as well). Lastly, the motor mount on the passenger side is a weak point.

Overall I LOVE the car.

2012 Mazdaspeed3. Mediocre navigation. No update...and the price I've heard is outrageous. Door pulls are crap. The silver paint or dye started to wear down after a year.

ms3...i also hate how it pops out of gear and seems to have more rattles than my "race" 2008 3 does.

I bought the 2014 M3 gT

Road noise is #1. All car in this class that I looked at had noise but the Mazda 3 is bad. Wish I noticed more on the test drive...it might have soured the deal. Going to get new tires and if necessary, sound proofing.

Storage in the interior space is lacking

road traffic screen is pretty useless.

Cant see out. Cant tell where the nose is when parking. Cant tell were the back of the car is. Thank God, there is a camera. Seems to have blind spots. Good it has blind spot sensors.

Gutless in auto but its ranged for fuel economy. Paddle shifting helps when I need to get.

Don't like the brakes. Grabby

Wish the gas mileage was better 25 to 30, long highway trips is good, mid 30s to 40

tinny but that is the same for the class Worried about pushing in the tin.

Clear coat got etched with the first bird crap...wax it as soon as you get it

Paint coat seem poor quality.

Other than that it is a great car, some of my gripes is that I'm stepping down from a Porsche

Tiny visors. When you sweep the visor to the sides it only covers about half of the driver's side window. If you've got the seat slid back or reclined some the visor does nothing.

2007 Mazda3, 2.0L, manual, 130k miles so far

This car has been perfect except for the SUSPENSION! It is terrible. I've replaced:

- Struts
- Strut bearings & mounts
- Sway bar end links, twice
- Shocks
- Rear control arms (to get the alignment correct on my stock, accident-free car!)

Everything else that I've done to this car has been basic maintenance. I like it enough to buy a newer one later, but I hope the suspension was improved. On the other hand, I hope that the powertrain on the newer ones are as good as what I have now. This 2.0L with the 5-speed has been absolutely problem-free.
