There is any way to keep whole LCD?

I have a '05-March European Mazda 3, but I'm so deceived with the sound quality of the stock radio, but I have read that if I remove it, I will lose the whole info LCD (clock, road computer, clima, temp...). There is any way to keep those functions although I change the radio? I marked in Bold because I'll not scare if it's necessary to cut PCB's, solder or program my own controller... lolç

Cheers

In the US version in '06 Mazda separated the wiring harness for the LCD so that you could remove the HU but keep the LCD functions.

Pre '06 in the US several people extended the wiring harness for the HU and relocated it somewhere else. The glove compt. and the trunk were the two places I heard of people putting them.
How can I know if my LCD is separated or not?
remove ur headunit, does the lcd have a seperate plug or does it come from the HU itself?

The plug will look like it is spliced off the main harness cable further back and wrapped.
Ditto, there are a few guys over here in Australia with aftermarket HU's installed. You lose the radio station/cd display on the LCD, but the air con details still show. As for the steering wheel audio controls, well you'll need to buy an IR adaptor that is compatible with the aftermarket HU you're looking at if that's the way you decide to go.
Does anyone know if this would this be the same case for Canadian 3's after 06?
ok..so just to make sure. the LCD display for info except CD will still show on the screen? i have a 07 gt and it would suck if i can't tell what the temp is because i have auto climate.

The ACC stuff will still display.
i used a dremel tool to cut out the original cage and I secred it to the other set of screws that face straight out. The kit only supports it on the bottom near the read. I had to do some bending and drilling for mounting holes but it only took 1.5 hrs by eye balling it.
