i got gaps in my lip kit to in the same area, and mines the TCSportline Polyurethane lip kit.
maybe not that big like the last two pics, but there is gap, if they tried to make the mold without the gap there, id imagine id be hard and make fitment worse since it could be off by a little, then not even fit right.

Yes thats is the reason, it wouldnt fit if we didnt do that. cause of the shape of the bumper

the hatch one should fit flawlessly. this one, i'm not surprised if it has tiny gaps that, really, only the driver is going to notice. any body shop would probably be able to touch it up if you're getting it painted / fitted there as well.

people are quick to criticize but this one looks very nice, especially since nobody else makes it.

all of ssg's products are fiberglass, which is why i think i might skip the lip. i'd need some abs plastic, not something that will likely crack with a bad scrape... and they happen.

you will only see the two small gabs from the top of the car standing right infront it it

yeah, i dont think anyone even notices the imperfections of my lip kit, unless I point it out to them. If i dont say anything, all i get is "nice car!" if i point it out then i get "ooh"

so dont point it out lol.

i still don't really understand, if the hatch GV lip can have no gaps, why can't this? but whatever, i'd probably get one anyway...

i'm still gonna wait tho for someone to paint and put one on for good and see how everything turns out.

btw, those gaps won't show up as much on a dark car as a white...

since gaps/voids are dark/black, if you have a black sedan, you probably won't even notice it...but on a white car, the voids/gaps are black and it will be a big contrast against the white paint.

He's referring to the actual front bumper in comparison to the rest of the car. And he's right - the paint seems a little off.

you guys are right...never noticed that, in the sun, it never quite showed up...but those night pics sure show the difference.

and yes i have had the bumper repainted, was in an accident before.

BUT, i always thought the difference in colour between the bumper/body panel attibuted to different materials (plastic/metal), and hence the shade/reflection of the parts may appear off....am i right or entirely wrong?

Depends on the paint shop and the paint itself. I've seen a few repair jobs done by other than the body shop of the dealership and paint was quite off. White isn't bad, you don't see much of a difference on daylight.

Where you get that? And how much you paid for it?

Supershyguys sells the lip for $200 CND I think. or more. he's on almost every mazda 3 forum.

Nothing sucks more than pulling into a parking spot with a curb and pushing the lip up and over the curb... :bitching: I've never done this before, but I've come close. Seeing as this is fiberglass, if this were to happen, you could pretty much count on having a damaged lip.
[/quote]

Even though it is fiberglass I really like it. And like biped mentioned...any good body shop can fill in the gaps when they install it. They may even be able to reinforce the lip on the inside. I haven't decided on which lip to get yet, but I always either back in or not pull all the way into parking spaces with curbs or parking blocks to avoid any front end damage.

Sorry kinda of off-topic. But roughly what would a body shop charge to paint this?

Also I assume I would save money if I got a bunch of things (eyelids, grill) painted at the same time right?

To fill my front licensce plate holes required that the entire middle half of the bumper be repainted altogether, and that ran me $100. Same with filling the rear mazda enblem holes. So i'd imagine painted+installed you're looking at $150-$200 for a quality job.
