Hmm.. I dont see why they should be able to let you test drive from the day it comes in?! (I kinda get that impression from the newsletter mazda sent out, as they said "... starting mid janurary..."

Well, I guess we'll find out in a couple of days!

I was just down at the Mazda Dealer at Belconnen in Canberra and they said that the press release date was the 15th but that the public release date would be a bit later.

I'm going to the release party/thing that they're having on the 23rd of January which I was told is a little before the "official" release date which I assume is supposed to be the Monday after (or Tues seeing as the monday is Australia Day).

Oh, and Hi to all you Aussies here! :) This is my 1st post!

Welcome aboard Saru and AlmostExactly (please enter your location).

With seemingly conflicting information flying around, I would not dare hazard a guess as to when the cars will be made available to the public. All I can ask is - whoever drives one, post your review ASAP!! :p

Reading the reviews from the global lauch in Chantilly by Aussie and NZ mags/newspapers, the feedback is generally very positive, except that the tyres can be noisy at speed. However, downunder models should get different tyres so hopefully, no complaints there.

The release date is the 21st in WA

Hi, I'm new too ! My dealer said that the release date is the 21st. They're receiving training on the 19th. Prices have been pretty much as quoted in previous threads. They still don't have all the info on the various packs. Cruise control is not standard on any model - even the SP23.

If I could, id be down to my dealer on that wednesday. (I was going to leave late wednesday, but now my situations changed and i have to leave earlier  ).

Should probably add that im in brisbane.. I'll add that to my profile in a jiffy. And I think ill have to buy a paper when I go out country!

Wow! Now we have just about at least one representative from each of the major capital cities. Would have thought the release is Australia wide, but it is possible that Syd and Mel dealers may get some stock first, hence the conflicting dates. Dunno... just speculating.

Sorry to hear that you'll miss the M3 debut CBT. But the way we're going, maybe it won't even have reached the dealers by the time you get back!

My dealer said they were expecting them off the boats this week, they're getting trained on the Monday the 19th and the launch 21st. Apparently they're having a launch party (& I'm invited), but she didn't say when. Amazing that there hasn't been any media involvement yet or even teaser ads.

Ive been told that my dealer will be getting 70 3's in this week (starting wednesday, for lauch on thursday, which is why i wanted to stick around wednesday), yet no one else has info that confirms that in the slightest.

And Jocco, from what my dealer has said, they've had the MZ3 sitting in the state holding yards for 2-3 weeks now. But yeah, no one really knows whats going on.. Expessially me :)

Nothing changes. Confusion! :D

Saw an ad for the facelifted Mazda Tribute last night. So perhaps the ads for the MZ3 won't start for while, unless Mazda decides to promote a couple of models at the same time (MZ2 facelift also coming this month). To be honest, I'd rather not see advertising for the MZ3 for a while... at least until I get mine, so that:

a) I get good choice of colours
b) Maybe some sort of a deal as dealers kick-start sales. If they see a queue at the door, well you can't blame them for not giving discounts.
c) and of course, I get one before the roads get saturated with them, because believe me, they will sell like hot cakes!

Hey guys, nice to see some more activity here...

I went down to the dealer in Belconnen as well, registered for the launch night on the 23rd - looking forward to it!!!

Maybe I'll see you there Saru ;)

I bet Canberra is getting their allocation of cars after Sydney and Melbourne - just speculation but... thinking about going to the other Mazda dealer here too, in Phillip... intrigued what launches parties they're offering

Cheers,
Craig.

Either that party is specific to that dealership, or my dealer doesn't like me anymore. Of course, I could always drive to Belconnen...

BTW, are dealerships open on Australia Day? If I remember correctly from last year, I think they are in Sydney.
