For anyone interest, here is an absolute STOCK dyno run for my MPS3 (Speed 3).

Mods were removed and vehical was as factory for the run.

A week ago you said that "All i have of the first stock runs are a couple of greasy hard copies at the shop." then you said "One of the VERY nice girls tht work there claened it off".

Why is the date on your dyno October 30 2006? Are you hosing us???

If you took the time to read the previous posts in the "boost" thread you WOULD have read that our Dyno has a fault with regards to the internal clock. When our addon server pulls the data for a re-print any other data printed at the moment gets the current date only.

This is the last time i type this again! People, PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE POSTS FROM THE START and THE LINKS within.

to save someone 30 seconds of google conversion:

179.7 kilowatts = 240.98167 hp

is the torque on that graph? the dotted line peaks at 5400, which isn't Nm or lbft..

Thanks for posting, Zzzoom. Nice to have another figure to chew on that's b/t the two others, even though I understand that dynos are mostly useful for modding and not absolute numbers. Just so I understand, the date is the run date or the print date? Also, why doesn't it use the typical hp/rpm/torque axises?

Anyway, to help us murkins try to understand the graph, I used Amercanmachinist.com's power calculator and my 6th grade level math abilities to translate the metric figures into our quaint system. My math is sloppy, too, so please check and correct where necessary. FWIW ...

kw-to-hp = 100.6 120.6 140.8 160.9 181 201.2 221.3 241.4
(0.62) kph-to-mph = 40.3 46.5 52.7 58.9 65.1 71.3 77.5 83.7 89.9

I then used the C&D 4th gear calculation of 16 mph/1000 rpms to calculate rpms from speed:
mph-to-rpms = 2518.8 2906.3 3293.8 3681.3 4068.8 4456.3 4843.8 5231.3 5618.

I didn't know what to do with the N scale (Newton?), so I didn't do anything. I thought it would be in nm and reflect torque, but that doesn't appear to be the case. FWIW, the Dyno Dynamics dyno is a loading type rather than an inertial dyno like the Dynojet. "Shootout Mode" is a certification system that is supposed to minimize variations in results among Dyno Dynamics dynos.

Zzzoom, I know you're running Motul synth. Are you also running different transaxle oil? What octane fuel were you running? Also, did you just have a fan in front of the car, or did you also have other fans aimed at the top of the TMIC?

^^ that is a very nice curve in my book. Way better than the shitty automobile mag dyno that everyone started to preach as gospel. I knew there was gonna be better results when more dyno's came out, and here is proof!

I'm sorry but I am totally confused by that graph. Most DDs read very low, and if the conversion to HP is accurate then your saying 241WHP on a DD. I just have a real hard time believing that? A MS6 with an ECU flash made 243WHP on a DD, so do you really believe stock MS3 are making similiar power to a tuned MS6s. For another example stock EVO IXs make 230-240whp on DDs and on Dynojets put out 260-270whp.

guess we need to wait for a reputable company (COBB!!!!!) to run a dyno on our vehcile.
the numbers just seem to be all over the place.
well actually i am not that impressed with dyno numbers anyway, doesnt really do anything for me. i will make my judgements after actually driving the vehicle (hopefully soon)

Yeah, the MS6 guys always chime in every time a dyno is posted that you can't look to a wheel dyno for absolute numbers. They're only good for checking the results of mods. With numbers coming in at 216/241/254, I think this is being borne out.

Hey, maybe Zzzoom missed one of the mods when he was restoring it to stock. I just know he's take another look and go "Doh! Sorry, forgot to switch out the custom downpipe and catless exhaust!"

I've got to say that I don't think that these numbers are necessarily out of line. We all know internet arguments about dyno's have raged on for decades without ever proving anything but I submit this much for your approval.

The MS3 engine is "detuned" from the MS6 but not by much. It seems arguable if it's really detuned at all. In any case, MS6's have dynoed in the 220-230whp range stock with a more parasitic awd system. Without the extra drag of awd on the motor 230-240whp from the MS3 seems entirely possible, especially under more favorable (i.e. cooler) conditions. Also, many MS6 guys have seen some SICK midrange torque from this motor again in stock trim. Many have speculated that it actually is making over 300 crank torque, possibly up to 320.

Simply put though, who cares? It's the ACCELERATION of the vehicle that really matters. It's clearly an easy low 14sec car at close to 100mph traps. Breaking into the 13's should certainly be possible on a good track with good weather. Modded....well some MS6's are already low 13's. Obviously traction will be more of an issue for the MS3 but in the end DRs will fix that enough to see some of these cars into the high 12's on the stock turbo. Mark my words.....

I hope you are correct, and I have no reason to doubt you, but Im not quite ready to accept that type of prediciton yet, not on a stock turbo that is.

if it does a 14.2 (edmunds) on stock tires, it should very easily do 13.7-13.9 on drag radials...STOCK
low 13's-high12's should come easily ...even on a stock turbo.

With just some 17in Kosei K1 TS's (14.1lbs each) and Kumho Ecsta MX's, I bet peolpe will easily get into the 13's. Proabably trap 100-102mph too.

Yeah the wheels here are absolute pigs...just like every other factory wheel.

Shark, I am with you on getting a good pair of 17in lightweight wheels. That plus cold air intake, cat back, and some grippy tires will be well into the 13's.
