EVENT INFO:
Our last trip to Taylor Rotorsports Rally Ranch was soooo much fun, we're doing it again!
And of course, Austin Suby is our sponsor...
This is alittle bit of what you missed last time: http://www.pbase.com/cwilliams/rallyx101506

When: JUNE 17th, 2007
Where: Taylor Rotorsports: http://tinyurl.com/2tbxwu
Course map: http://www.axwaresystems.com/axorm/f...ES/RX31807.JPG

If you are planning on attending the event, it is really important you make it out to help with site prep.
Putting on this sort of event is not possible without everyone pitching in to get the large rocks away from the course.
The more people there, the faster it will go, the faster we get to drink beer (paid for by SPOKES!!), the safer the event for cars & spectators, and the more fun.
If you are coming to the Rock Parties or going to the site to work, please email me. I will be keeping track of those that stepped up to help: there is a YEP trophy for worker and member of the year.

REGISTRATION INFO:
Preregistration: http://www.axwaresystems.com/axorm
Remember Autocross classes are not found in RX, Not even SPOKES classes!
NO Tire class, NO X class and there will be no Novice class for only this event this year!

Classes are:
Rally Stock (Cars as they might have left the showroom)
Stock FWD = SF
Stock RWD = SR
Stock AWD = SA

Rally Prepared (Some things are modified/upgrade)
Prepared FWD = PF
Prepared RWD = PR
Prepared AWD = PA

Rally Modified (Almost a rally car, swapped engine etc)
Modified 2WD (FWD/RWD) = M2
Modified 4WD = M4

SPOKES has created 3 other classes:
Trucks (Anything that is considered a truck)
Trucks 2WD = T2
Trucks 4WD = T4

Junkyard Dog = JD
Any car costing less than $1000

For those who don't know what Rallycross is, here's some vids from past events:

my face was cringed listening to the 2nd in car video... man... rally thru some gravel and rocks?

I hope you got 2-3 layers of 3m on your car... or install some styrofoam body kit on your car.

Actually, a FWD will be better than a RWD in this situation because the engine weight in front will increase the traction in the front tires and you can steer and pull yourself around the corners.

A RWD will spin out much easier on an offroad course and it's more difficult to drive.

How bad is this for your car? It looks fun. Other than scratches, what other kind of damage is possible? suspension? tires popping?

bent strut and/or tie rod
broken control arm
snapped axles
worn out cv joints

this is something i definately wouldn't do on my daily driven fwd without some serious suspension mods that can withstand the abuse.

The surface is flat. No jumps. I don't foresee bent struts or broken control arms. They already combed over the area with rakes and what not to remove rocks for two days now but of course there may be small ones that were missed, but none I would think will break any suspension parts.

It's just autocross on dirt.

I'm down to go watch. For sure. Now with the flyer that was posted by sar. If we are just going to watch do we need to pitch in $20? I assume this is like the recent autox where spectating is allowable(sp?)

All of the autox/rallyx doesn't require spectators to pay any money.

oh ok....well that's a huge difference.

i still wouldn't do it though. i cringe at the thought of how long it would take to clean the car after a rallycross.

you guys have fun and kick ass. hopefully you have some all-season's laying around....summer tires won't grip much.
